"browse" in x6

Post by miltk »

is there a browse feature in x6 that's similar to early psp programs?

if you're not familiar with the early versions of psp., you could browse the computer in the left panel and when you clicked on a folder all the images showed up as thumbnails. does x6 have this?

thx ,,,all

Yes it is in Manage mode (left Tab at top ) with Thumbnails chosen (Top right) rather than Preview mode.

thx. the thumbnails are too big so i tried lowering the pixel size in general preferences to 85, but it didn't set.
is there another way?

also. i organized the thumbnails by newest date created, but the thing is the files are also categorized by day. i'd prefer to see them all at once instead of being split up into days. is there a way to view this?

sorry for the questions. i'm a lifetime early psp user, and i'm not used to x6

I presume you mean General Program Preferences > Palettes - that refers to the thumbnails and mouse over thumbnail on the Layers pallette (Edit Mode - F8 turns the layers palette on and off)

In Manage Mode you can adjust the size of the thumbnails by using the Zoom slider at the bottom (assuming you have Manage with Thumbnail Mode set rather than Preview mode.

The images cannot be organized by date taken and not have them on the separate days as that is the way PSP now does it. The closest thing to your Jasc Browser arrangement is to sort by Folder.
This displays them in the same order that you have them in your folder.

Some web pages have some good explanations of the versions and variations.

There are also many helpful videos on youtube.com eg

As well there is a beginners workshop that is worth a run through to familiarize yourself with many of the tools. It is shown above or on this link:

You have the advantage of a mentor that you can ask questions of as you proceed through many tutorials that show how to use many of the tools.

Pardon the interruption ...
I know this is an old post.
I used PSP9 years ago. I am trying out PSP X8.
And thanks for the links to the video and tutorials. I will be going there.
I have been using Irfanview to work with some photos.
What I liked was that I could drag the thumbnails around to get into the order I liked and would then rename them in sequence.
Is there any facility in PSPX8 to do something similar?
How would one reorder the thumbnails?
Possible or no?
Thanks for any info passed my way.

As far as I know you cannot simply drag the thumbnails around in the thumbnail pane in Manage mode as you can with Irfanview. I can only suggest that you do the rearranging and renaming in Irfanview, and then have Manage mode sort by name so that the thumbs appear that way in PSP's thumbnail pane.

In X8 you can drag the sequence if you put the thumbs in a tray. If the folder from which you take the images is in Collections the thumbs will stay in the tray between sessions, not if they are from Computer only folders. I'm away from home and PSP so can't confirm further.

Thanks. That is what I have been doing.
And while I am there, I may as well do the cropping. Size and rename can be done with batch in Irfanview.
Was just wanting to try and do it all in PSP X8. Looking like you can't.
Thanks for checking in...
