Load From Stream Error - Kindle Fire mp4 codec issue?
I hope there is help out there.....
Videos I have taken with my Kindle fire, hang when trying to add them to VS X9. These are .mp4 videos that will play without error in any of the other software packages I have on the system.
Here's the rub. Once it hangs VS, and I kill the process using Task Manager, I can no longer start VS. Now I get the "Load From Stream Error". I can only get rid of this by deleting all the Ulead Systems folder contents.
Corel is refusing to help because they suggested I try X9 ( was on 6), and now they say they provided "limited" support to 'trial users'.
I'm at a loss.
<oh...and you can't close the error dialog>
ApLoading MFC Application runs with the splash screen for a while. The error has already occured in the background. You can see two apps running in Task Manager.

Hi,
Well we never had kindle stuff on the forum. if you will upload for us a typical 10 sec kindle mp4 we will try it on our X9 systems.

Re: Load From Stream Error - Kindle Fire mp4 codec issue?
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond....Let me give you some details to help recreate the issues I am seeing.
First...the system is a Windows 10, 64bit running and Intel i7.
I have moved from v6 of VS as I had (the same) errors trying to load files.
I am currently using VS X9 Pro (Trial edition) 19.1.0.21 (64 bit unlimited) as found in help/about.
I am 'canceling' the pop up requests to load patch 3 given the other forum user issues.
Here is my workflow from The Kindle Fire HDX to the point of failure on VSX9
-Take video
-Connect Kindle Fire (KF) to the Windows 10 PC via usb.
-Us Windows Files Explorer to download files from KF to /<userdir>/videos/.../filename.mp4
-Start VSX9
-Click cancel on the dialog suggesting I load updates.
-Go to the "media" view.
- Right click the media view and select "add media" from the context menu.
- Use file dialog to identify a file previously copied to disk.
- Select Open.
!!! At this point I get the dialog that reads "The parameter is incorrect."
Click the OK button in the error dialog and you can see the file import progress bar with the file name sitting at an almost complete state.
Progress dialog says "Press ESC to abort."
At this point VSX9 is locked up tight.
All I can do is kill the process through the Task Manager.
There is only one task in the manager and it is NOT using any resources.
I select the parent task and kill it.
...
I tested this with a fairly small file and have attached it to this post.
I can open the file with VLC any any other video player on the system, without issue.
If I load the video into Windows Movie Maker, and save it back out (un edited from a user perspective) as an "MPEG-4/H.264" file (with a different name), it imports using the above method without issue. I have attached it also.
...
Please bear in mind that I have been using this same KF with VS6 on a Windows7 machine for years without issue.
I loaded FSX9 on the Windows7 machine and have the same issues as I describe above.
....
Good luck and let me know if I can provide more details.

Re: Load From Stream Error - Kindle Fire mp4 codec issue?
An interesting other note.....If I try and drag and drop one of the files that causes this import issue, into either the timeline or the media view, it won't go. The icon changes to the circle with the bar through it and the DND won't happen. If I take the converted file, and try to DND it to the timeline or the media view, it will drop as expected. Something in the DND code is smart enough to see it doesn't like the incoming object....for whatever reason.
I have also verified this is NOT related to the OS release. The happens with both Windows 7 and Windows 10 OS machines. This is directly related to x9.

Hi
Sorry but I must be missing something as I do not know what you mean by Media View?
It may be the trial version that has the option but I did run the trial and cannot remember media view.
Drag and Drop should work from Windows Explorer folders, SP3 has caused a problem with that but a recent fix by Corel was released today, view this post.
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 02#p328102
Not sure if its suitable for the trial?
To insert video to the timeline---right click timeline for Insert Video / Photo etc.
Also File – Insert Media files to Timeline – Insert Video
If they do not work can you upload an original sample to maybe Microsoft One Drive or Google Drive, although any sharing site should do.
The forum attachment option has a size limit of 2 Mb so not suitable for video.

Re: Load From Stream Error - Kindle Fire mp4 codec issue?
I have not forgotten this issue, but editing videos is relegated to my free time.
The 'Media View' is in reference to the window in the top right of the default perspective. It is where you can see transitions, affects, music, and video.
I will get a file uploaded soon, as I am about 80% sure, it is just an issue with a header that is being put in by the Kindle that Corel doesn't like.

Re: Load From Stream Error - Kindle Fire mp4 codec issue?
I have made a short video that will not import into VSPx9.
I have updated my install to patch 3 now that is loading the update correctly.
The video sample is on dropbox. Here is a public link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/174 ... Kindle.mp4
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Preston.

Unfortunately Dropbox is telling me it can't find your clip... I have a Dropbox account but even opening that and searching for your clip returns a nil result.

Re: Load From Stream Error - Kindle Fire mp4 codec issue?
Curiously enough, after reading your posts I tried again and this time the clip showed up in Dropbox -- and the correct way up! Maybe because I am on the flipside of the world??!!
It also opened no problem in my X9 with SP3. Even got the message asking if I wanted Project Properties to match those of the clip.

Hmmm...I don't know what to tell myself. I see from your profile, Ken, that you too are running Windows 10 so it would seem our systems match completely.
I'm going to try downloading it back off drop box and see what happens.

The video properties when viewed using Media Info shows the video has been rotated by 180degrees.
I think the phone will have done that.
I assume you recorded the video in Landscape but was the camera upside down, rotated by 180.?

Re: Load From Stream Error - Kindle Fire mp4 codec issue?
I didn't use Media Info, though should have. I see that this clip uses a variable frame rate, which has caused other users in the past. (It also explains why I got the slightly curious frame rate reading of 29.999 fps in X9's own Properties for the clip.) But that doesn't explain why the rest of us had no trouble with the clip...
Certainly (well... almost certainly) X6 could not have dealt with a clip with variable frame rate. That type of video had not come onto the market when X6 was developed. And again I can only blame the fact that we are dealing with the severely crippled trial version of X9, as the cause of the problem for sbirdranch.
