This gets better and better! Having loaded the 'new' SP3 over my existing X9 which had the 'old' SP3, I can't now even open X9. I get the splash screen, but it just sits there no matter how long I leave it. Worse, it obscures the central part of my screen and when I try moving to another screen (my browser) using the Windows key + TAB, it continues to sit over that.

Task Manager shows 'Corel Video Studio' is being called up, but there is another program with the X9 logo called 'APLoading MFC Application' which I assume is the module at fault here. I use End Process in Task Manager to kill it, and get a 'load from stream' error message. VS still does not load. If I kill Video Studio as well, then try again to open X9, the same thing happens -- even when I navigate to vstudio.exe and try opening it as Administrator...

So I am not a happy camper at all!!

EDIT: I am uninstalling X9 with the new cleanup tool. FWIW, it shows that the version it is uninstalling is indeed 19.3.0.19!

Hi Ken

You do seem to be having your fair share of problems, Austin said he would help, I think?

The Cleanup tool only uninstalls the program, it does not remove personal data
My Docs folders and the 19.0 reset folder are not removed, if the problem is with the latter then you may have to delete/rename that.

and its good nigth from me.... have a good day

I suppose I should be grateful then that this "new" SP3 will not install on my computer - throws up the "the installed version could not be determined etc." message

I still have 19.3.0.18 and every time I start it I get the advice that a new update is available - if I agree to install it downloads and goes through the motions then throws up the error

cancel that and it works OK - it's staying like that for now at least I can use it

Thanks for that tip, Trevor. I renamed the 19.0 folder before reinstalling X9. But since that folder is so central to the proper performance of VS, I can only wonder why the cleanup tool does not remove it.

A further query in this regard relates to the Bonus Features and Standard Content. When I opened the reinstalled X9 (as version 19.2.0.4 i.e. with SP2 already included), none of those extra features were present. Yes, the Bonus Features were installed separately in their various folders (Boris, proDAD) but they did not appear in the program itself -- and remember the 19.0 was newly created. I noted when I first started the reinstallation process -- which I had done from scratch -- that the installer program had indicated that the Standard Content and Bonus Features were already installed, and I wondered about that, but let it do its thing. But of course there were no installers for those extra bits in the new download. Luckily I had them backed up on a separate computer and installed them from there (plus a new 19.0 folder created).

I also created a Restore point before installing the new SP3 again...

But I can only say that I have found the whole process not only disappointing, but terribly confusing. And if I am confused after all these years dealing with VS since version 7, I can only understand the frustration which many more recent users must be feeling right now!

After installing the newest SP3, I get exactly the same thing happening as Ken.

I am ready to dump VS X9 permanently and go back to X8 until Corel gets their act together and creates a workable SP3.

In addition, they should get rid of the useless TripleScoop music - nobody is going to pay for that crap.

I was at 19.3.0.18 (original SP3) but 'Drag and Drop' for Explorer was broken. Now after an uninstall and reinstall, I'm back at 19.2.0.4 (SP2). 'Drag and Drop' for Explorer is working again and Triple Scoop Music is not an issue so I'm happy.

Corel states that SP3 "improves the overall stability of the application and resolves a multi-select issue in the Library (http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/suppor ... duct-tab_0)." However without more information, it's not clear exactly what issues were fixed. Hence I can live without SP3 for the time being.

Ken mentioned a new X9 clean-up tool. Where?

I have X9 sp3+ running on a win 7sp1 platform, and (once started, with that annoying download update message box I mentioned earlier out of the way) it works as I expected it. The 'drag-n-drop' hassles being reported for sp3 and it's ill-named brother don't seem to apply on my PC. Are the issues being reported also related to windows 10?

Triple scoop music - never use it, but when selected, agree that the option really slags performance. And with so many free music sites out there, who wants to pay for it anyway? Corel must have been dreaming/on ice/or something to think that using VS as an app shop for music - no doubt with a cut for them - would fly.

Hi Guys

Very strange that I am not having problems with installing SP3, I wonder if its a Windows 10 problem, as you know I am still using Windows 7.

I have had problems though using System Restore seemed to corrupt my CVSX9 installation, first occurred when beta testing, that's when I was pleading Corel for the cleanup tool.
and a recent System Restore, same issues, cannot run or uninstall program, I reverted my operating system back to a System Image a little drastic but got things going again.

But again for SP3 to 19.3.0.19 no problems installing.
That's not to say that SP3 is good far from it Triple Scoop Music being the main issue.

David, we were not hiding the fact we had a cleanup tool as only received that a few hours before the latest posts, same time as news of 19.3.0.19 arrived.
As I mentioned to Ken the Cleanup Tool does not remove all personal settings, so not a search and destroy.
I would advise first using Windows to uninstall unless that process fails.

I have to add, though certainly not with apologies to Corel, that after using the cleanup tool, and further cleanup which was necessary despite the cleanup tool, I fully reloaded X9, then with my heart in my mouth -- and by also creating a System Restore point -- I reinstalled the current/latest SP3 and everything still seems to work again.

Not happy with the process, but at least the outcome now seems better...

Hi Ken

That’s good news, so it does seem that the Cleanup tool is more effective than Windows Programs and Features, even leaving the personal data intact.
As for System Restore as far as I can say that has caused more issues for me with Video Studio, so now a little apprehensive in using that. Maybe as a last resort.

Hi
I asked Corel, they could not replicate this problem, their reply...

QA tested the screen capture issue, but can't reproduce. To stop capturing is fine either by F10 or by mouse click. The mouse animation is also no problem.
No, lata, I can see no mouse-animation only when I screen capturing CORELVIDEOSTUDIO. The Screencap of CVS shows no mouse-animation.
I wanted to show a bug in the CVS-software by showing the bug with screencapture feature, but the screencap-programm shows no mouse-animation.
And to show and to understand the bug you must see the mouse-animation in CVS.
Update:
All is allright, lata. Mouse-animation is in function, also in CVS. "F10" also in function. No problems in this feature.

I am uninstalling X9 with the new cleanup tool.
I re-installed X9. All is good. All personal features still alive.
I installed SP1, then --> SP2
but after installing SP3 now I see this message in GERMAN:
Message, when I have installed SP3. This is not the right message when the installing would be successfull
Message, when I have installed SP3. This is not the right message when the installing would be successfull
Now I have CVS-version 19.3.0.18

When you reinstalled X9 did you use a version you had already downloaded some time ago and saved; or did you start over again and download from Corel again? I ask because that error message you got is Corel's strange way of saying your version of VS is already fully up to date. This would suggest that Corel might already have included SP3 in its download version.

Did you download SP3 fresh or use a version you might have downloaded a few days ago? It is the latest version which gives you 19.3.0.19. Get it from http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/suppor ... duct-tab_0 and ignore the date shown. This is the latest version.
