Now this is getting ridiculous.
With Triple Scoop Music Folder hidden, the error appears, however if I "Show" the Triple Scoop Music Folder then I can drag and drop, then hide the folder again and I can still drag and drop. Close VSX9 and relaunch with Triple Scoop Folder still hidden and again the error message appears. So every time VSX9 is opened with the folder hidden, I cannot drag and drop until I reinstate the folder, once a clip has been dragged and drop the folder can again be hidden and drag and drop remains working until next time the program is launched and then everything is repeated

Hi Robert

I am running CVSX9 with SP2 at the moment so cannot try to replicate the problem.
Once I do a C:Drive backup I will have a go, but do not wish to install any more files till I have secured my pc.

Maybe another mail to Nick?

QA tested the screen capture issue, but can't reproduce. To stop capturing is fine either by F10 or by mouse click. The mouse animation is also no problem.

Reinstalled with SP2 and everything good again.
I am sure that Triple Scoop Music is the root cause of all the problems being encountered
With SP2, drag and drop is just about instant, with SP3 there was a significant time lapse between dropping and appearing in the timeline (if it appeared at all)

Wish I had stuck to my earlier post and not installed SP3, would have saved all this hassle

Hi guy's
I was stupid enough to intall SP3 and after reading it will not accept SP2 projects.

1. I have a project I am half way through but not sure if I opened it in the SP3 upgrade. Is there any way to tell from the VSP file what version it was opened in?

2. To revert back to SP2 in Win 10, do I un-install as normal in Win Control Panel, and re-run my downloaded Video Studio EXE file, or can I just run the EXE file to overwrite what is already install?

Always dubious with Win 10!!

Thanks all, I'm glad I only use VS for a hobby, and feel sorry for you guy's that use it for a living with all the problems being caused with the last couple of upgrades. After I saw that Lata had left of install SP3, I should have known better!!

Sorry I did'nt see the other CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2 Thred, still need an answer if possible

Hi Allan

Downloading CVSX9 is done using the Web Installer (Video Studio .exe file) or (VideoStudioX9_Installer.exe) that can also be used to install the program.
The web Installer first saves the Program to a folder default to desktop.
You should have a folder called Video Studio with several sub folders

64 bit with Ultimate/Pro – contains the main program files,

with a Standard Content, completes the program installation

and Bonus folder if you have purchased the ultimate version

You can manually install via these files in a similar way to installing earlier versions.
Double click Setup.exe
Double Click setup_Bonus.exe
Double click setup_CHD.exe

Caution……….
Take care with your projects as any project saved with SP3 will not open when reinstalling SP2

Uninstall re-install

I tend to use Programs and Features to uninstall
Then manually install, I did have some problems with Pal / Ntsc settings which manual install overcame.

Corel have fixed the Drag and Drop issue, read this reply

SP3 with patch installed, this morning I could drag and drop, now no matter what I try to drag and drop be it video or image the following error message appears
That same thing would happen to me with some files on X8. "Insert Media File to Timeline" from the menu would load the file just fine. I haven't run into that problem, yet, with X9, but I've only been working on one project so far.

I'm glad to see that the drag and drop issue has been mostly resolved for some of you.

My problem with SP3 was that the preview screen would turn black and I would have to change to a different clip and back again before I could see the clip in the preview window. Since reverting to VS 19.2.0.4 (pre SP3) I have not had that issue.

Has anyone else experienced this with SP3? If so has it been resolved with the updated files?

Thanks.

Thanks to your reply to my question Lata,

I did try the new EXE file to see if drag and dropped worked in X9 Win 10, but still not working. Is there any more news on this issue from Corel or is the matter closed? As I was part way through a project after installing R3, I saved it to X7 and it works fine. I'm begging to wounder now why I upgraded to X9?? At some point I will try to revert my R3 back to R2 and hope Corel come up with a decent fix.

Hi Allen

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 60#p328102

Did you download the files from this post

As far as I know replacing vstudio.exe in
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9
Should fix the drag and drop issue.

But its only drag and drop from Windows Explorer, we do not have to use that and can import files from the timeline or library.
The drag and drop should not affect the way you edit?

Triple Scoop Music is causing some concerns with some users but you can hide the library page, if that’s what you wish to do.

As Ken did (back on page 1 of the thread), I downloaded SP3 from the link krank35 provided, and it worked, updated the version to 19.3.0.18.

And I have noted the affect of a vsp created on sp3 when opened in X9 sp2: basically, the X9 workspace goes blank like there's no project there, and if left long enough a small message box saying invalid format appears. Installing SP3 fixes that.

But whilst on brief tests, I don't have a drag and drop problem with the SP3 version (from the gallery to timeline or audio track), I have discovered my own set of quirks this version service pack comes with. Specifically, after SP3 is installed, on startup and before the splash screen, I get a message box telling me SP3 is available, download now. Captured screen:
VS X9 update message.jpg
Closing the message box (because SP3 is already installed) and continuing on, when the user workspace opens, I select Help, check for updates (thinking: if check for updates thru the program find it's already there, maybe this message box will go away) and it gives me another message box like this:
VS X9 updates message box.jpg
The thought was obviously wrong.

This doesn't seem to have any effect on program operation, but one would think the code was smart enough to detect the installation of Sp3 and not do this odd-ball messaging thing saying it was available (implied, not installed), but apparently not so. One begins to wonder just how much QA actually gets done on service packs nowadays.

Davidk

Hi David, can you try installing SP3 again from the popup window, I would like to know if the auto update does change version number to 19.3.0.19
Cheers

Trevor

Yes it does. Also, that annoying update now message box has gone away. But - note Robertoz comment later in the thread about same name and release dates - Corel has again repeated it's ability to lose control of updates by not updating the names and dates of patches. This one should at least be called "SP3 hotfix 1", and posted on the support updates site so those of us who do keep them separately for recovery reasons can actually use them again if a re-install or re-build is required.

Hi Guys

Corel have updated Service Patch SP3, still retains the same name.

Please download from http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/suppor ... sion-tab=0
Yes it looks the same…..

Installing this new file will install over SP2 and over old SP3

I do not know exactly what this has fixed but I suspect drag and drop?

The latest version number will be 19.3.0.19

New installations should install the latest 19.3.0.19 automatically
Re-installations may install 19.3.0.18 so install SP3 again from new download as above.

I would suggest that you check version numbers

Information for this was provided by Austin Larocque of Corel who should be visiting the forum more often to help with problems

As I said it does look the same but certainly updates the program, along with some changes in displaying the TSM library, but that's as far as I have been in testing
and now running 19.3.0.19

I was hoping that Corel would make Service Pack available for beta testers before releasing to the public, with the past problems for X8 I would have thought that a good idea.
But same problems being experienced with X9 by releasing seemingly untested sp's

That release date on the Corelwebsite obviously has not been updated. The 2 SP3 files show different sizes as well as different digital signature dates.
