Well I guess I'm glad that I wasn't able to install SP3. I really don't even know if I have SP1 or SP2 yet. Anyway, I guess I'll keep ignoring the message about SP3 until something is worked out with it.

Same here. No problems with X9 Ultimate running on Windows 7.
Still don't know what SP3 does???
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Hi

A few days ago I asked Nick what SP3 actually does, waiting his reply, he did say that the SP3 would be on web site by Wednesday, that's today.
Will look again later, usually there is more info on the Update and Patches web pages.

As for drag and drop I have no problems?

For those of you who have drag and drop issues with SP3, I have uploaded the .dmp files to Nick who has created a bug report, now it's a matter of waiting to see if R & D can isolate the problem

Thanks as the X9 with the SP3 update will not allow a drag and drop of my .mts files onto the timeline. The error is "Corel Video Studio has stopped working." Looks like SP3 didn't include QA.

Hi Guys

Very strange indeed, I use MTS video from my Panasonic 900 series with no issues.
I have to say that I waited for the Auto Update and did not manually install.
I also re-installed VS to check auto updates which worked ok.
Unless installing SP3 over SP2 affects VS differently to installing SP3 on a new install?

I think I will re-install X9

I installed SP3 from the direct download (not from inside Videostudio) and like Trevor I have no problem at all in dragging and dropping .MTS files - in fact I have no problem with dragging and dropping any format video file

I installed SP3 using the popup advisory for X9 Ultimate 64-bit. I don't see any details from other users, so here's what I observe: when I drag a file (.mp4 is all I have tried) onto the timeline, it creates a white object, presumably the length of the file, that stays attached to the cursor, and can be dragged all over the overlay, title, and audio areas, but will not detach from the cursor. When I get rough with it trying to get it to turn loose, I get the standard advisory offering immediate shutdown or shutdown after Internet search. I was relieved to learn that I can import files into the library and drag them onto the timeline from there, so I can live with it.

That is in any case the way most of it have always done it anyway. I assume that you were initially talking about dragging and dropping a video file from Windows File Explorer onto the timeline. That should still work, but is not the preferred way of doing things with VS. However, I have just tested this method and find that indeed an mp4 which can be dragged and dropped from the X9 library into the timeline, causes X9 to crash as described when I attempt to drag it from File Explorer into the X9 timeline.

Can someone tell me how to find out if I have SP1 and SP2 in VSX9 Ult. ? Also, if I need to install them individually before installing SP3 (if I'm ever able to, that is).

You have been advised in a previous post how to determine the version of VSX9 installed, go to Help/About, if the version No is 19.2.0.4 then SP2 is installed.
As far as I am aware, there is no need to have SP2 installed prior to installing SP3, normally the latest update includes previous updates

Does that mean Ken, that you agree that there is an issue with SP3, I drag and drop from a file on the desktop when I am checking whether or not to use the clip, it is so much faster than importing via VS, this is not an issue with SP2

When I tried to boot up VS Pro X9 Ultimate today, the message popped up about the Patch 3 being available. I followed the instruction to close VS prior to installing the patch. I did NOT check beforehand which patch version I had installed already. I got an error message telling me "...Cannot create a file when that file already exists!" So, I clicked "Ignore" to see if it would continue. Apparently, it didn't.

Now, I cannot even use VS since it will not open! Am I going to have to go through that convoluted process of reinstalling it and all the other modules -- again?
Or, is there something else much more simple which I can do? Some advice will be appreciated.
