It seems to be a problem with WIN 7
DnD is in function with other programs, for example: WORD.RobertOZ wrote:Can you drag and drop with other programs, have you tried starting in safe mode to see if the problem still exists
I have tested it. Though I want not to test the "safe mode" of WIN 7. That is not the aim.

Heh,
Seems there are several ways to interpret what I said. So, to clarify . .
I rarely use the gallery for an input source: clips come from a camera chip, separately stored music or sound files, or recorded voice over. The gallery is usually used for a painting creator overlay, or a clip like the moving film SP-V10.wmv positioned to end a project.
Reading the reports on X9 drag-n-drop issues, I tested it. In a clean workspace, dragged several representative items (video clip, photo and a music file) from the gallery to the relevant timeline or voice track, and that worked as I expected that it would.
Thus on 2 counts, DnD doesn't seem to affect me - I rarely use it, and on test, it worked. There may be a gremlin in there somewhere but I haven't seen it yet.

There was never a problem dragging from the gallery to the timeline, the problem was dragging from Windows Explorer to the timeline. That problem has been fixed with the latest SP3Davidk wrote:Heh,

OK. But for the same amount of work or less (compared to having both VS and exploder open, locate and get the desired clips into the right tracks) the VS timeline panel right click, insert video/music/photo function has always worked. I've always done it that way (work it to death sometimes during the initial project set-up, lately using X9sp3hotfix) and never before came across anyone who did not.

Re: Something is wrong with the X9 service pack 3 update
I have threetimes CVS X9 de-installed and re-installed. Result everytime: DnD has no function.
Please look at this:
When I have re-installed CVS X9 (before update with SP3) the CVS-program started "clean".
After online-update with SP3 the program starts with this screen:
In the next days I will another time de-install und re-install CVS and "new trick" now: Between DE-INSTALLATION and RE-INSTALLATION
I will make a REBOOT of my WIN7-SYSTEM. Perhaps that is the "clou" ??!

Re: Something is wrong with the X9 service pack 3 update
Hi solarkritik
First can I ask has Nick from Corel been in touch with you regarding this problem.?
When you install video studio, how do you do that.?
We have two options to installing X9.
1 / Using the Web Installer
2 / Manual install by double clicking the Setup.exe
Whichever option you use can you try the other option.
I prefer using the manual approach (2)
Install only the main program, run that program to see how it performs.
Allow the program to update SP3 do not manually install any service packs.
If the program is ok, install the StandardsContents, then check program again

Hi solarkritik: my apologies, I had drafted a post couple days ago but I never sent it. I have tested on W7 German, and don't reproduce the problem you've reported. If you'll please send me a PM with your email address, I will provide further steps or arrange a remote session.

Re: Something is wrong with the X9 service pack 3 update
I was warned by a pal in the USA, about a big time problem with Service Pack 3 for VideoStudio X9 Ultimate, which we both now use.
I did download it when prompted to, and then it would not load up properly.
It also stopped my older version 8 from operating when I tried to access it.
I removed the download, restarted my PC and all was well, thank goodness, without the SP3.
Now I need to stop it flashing up that I have to download it every time I access my Pro 9 Ultimate.
How do I do that ?
I have no intention of downloading SP3 ever, as once the trust factor has gone, it will never return, so how do I remove that pesky pop up?
I am off to see about updating my old Photoshop to the new one.
Corel.
As my pal in the States knew about it, why didnt I ??????????????????
You are driving me nuts & back to Adobe.
I never thought I would ever say that.
Sorry.

Re: Something is wrong with the X9 service pack 3 update
Hi loftladderman
I do not know about big time, afaik drag-n-drop was an issue and Triple Scoop Music caused some concern, certainly problems should not have happened but “big time” not sure about that?
It is highly likely that the original SP3 is being used again rather than the new version, I could however be wrong about that, but….
If you delete the Corel Messages and Downloads then the program will certainly download the correct new version of SP3
Please read this reply …….

I do not know how to stop that pop up other than installing the service packs.
That is up to you, I have deleted the files and installed the patch without problems.
I do know that the SP3 does fix some issues using 4K video, what else it fixed I do not know?
The addition of Triple Scoop Music to the library could be annoying, depends if you need that, but we can always Hide the library page, mixes feelings with TSM?
I am running Windows 7 other operating systems may have different issues?
A bit drastic to abandon Video Studio because of SP3?
Issues with SP3 were raised on this forum immediately after its release, so how did your US pal find out about problems?
But yes I agree Corel could post more details on their Update web pages.

I will make a REBOOT of my WIN7-SYSTEM. Perhaps that is the "clou" ??!
Result:
Before I updated to SP3 now I have proofed the DnD-Function. Yes, in version 19.2.0.4 the DnD-Feature is in function.
But then the Update comes...
Then I make the official-Update to version 19.3.0.19 and then the DnD-Feature ist not in function.

Ken Berry wrote:This gets better and better! Having loaded the 'new' SP3 over my existing X9 which had the 'old' SP3, I can't now even open X9. I get the splash screen, but it just sits there no matter how long I leave it. Worse, it obscures the central part of my screen and when I try moving to another screen (my browser) using the Windows key + TAB, it continues to sit over that.
Task Manager shows 'Corel Video Studio' is being called up, but there is another program with the X9 logo called 'APLoading MFC Application' which I assume is the module at fault here. I use End Process in Task Manager to kill it, and get a 'load from stream' error message. VS still does not load. If I kill Video Studio as well, then try again to open X9, the same thing happens -- even when I navigate to vstudio.exe and try opening it as Administrator...
So I am not a happy camper at all!!![]()
EDIT: I am uninstalling X9 with the new cleanup tool. FWIW, it shows that the version it is uninstalling is indeed 19.3.0.19!
That update has been nagging for a while now. I was reluctant because the last update destroyed drag&drop. I finally tried to update today because it says that was fixed... it just did the same thing as described above. (I guess technically that takes care of the drag&drop crash.) I have tried removing with windows and reinstalling, removing with the removal tool and reinstalling, removing with both and deleting the folder under my documents, and it's now downloading for a second time (thanks, I've now used up 20% of this month's bandwidth on the first day of the month) and I give it a 99% chance of doing the exact same thing all over again anyway.Ken Berry wrote:I have to add, though certainly not with apologies to Corel, that after using the cleanup tool, and further cleanup which was necessary despite the cleanup tool, I fully reloaded X9, then with my heart in my mouth -- and by also creating a System Restore point -- I reinstalled the current/latest SP3 and everything still seems to work again.
Not happy with the process, but at least the outcome now seems better...

Because I have got no notice from glus, I yesterday have de-installed und re-installed CVS X9 SP2 for a 5th time, and now I ignore SP3 from Corel.glus wrote:Hi solarkritik: my apologies, I had drafted a post couple days ago but I never sent it. For some days I have finished the video-project which i have build with CVS X9 SP3, you can watch it, here: https://youtu.be/YHsrPkk4nfU
So, now, I begin a new video-project ("Teil2"), but I begin this new project with CVS X9 SP2 (not SP3).
In SP2 drag&drog is in function. And SP2 has no big bugs. Like a miracle. I will not destroy this miracle with SP3.

Well, the last cycle: "uninstall, clean, manually remove any trace of folders anywhere I could find, redownload and reinstall, then reboot" finally worked. But now all of my custom stuff is gone and I have to rebuild all of my own episode templates from scratch again. :/

Re: Something is wrong with the X9 service pack 3 update
Yesterday Microsoft has automatically installed a new WIN7 update and now DnD has also no function in CVS 19.2.0.4.
Now I get the decision: Installation of CVS X9 completely new. Completely DE-Installation and then completely RE-Installation of CVS X9
and Smart-Package Backup of the most important projects before DE-Installation.
