PSP X8 suddenly closing

While doing a lesson, and using properties on Text Vectors, my psp suddenly notifies me that it is closing and does. I have repeated the step numerous times and the computer keeps closing my X8 at the same step when changing the properties of the text and trying to change the patterns/color etc.
Does anyone have an idea of how I can solve this problem?
Using Windows 10 with PSPX8.

I have this ache doctor can you cure it?? That is a vague question to which a doctor would have to ask a lot of questions including what do you do when you get that ache?
Well doctor it happens when I miss the nail and hit my thumb!!

But seriously " doing a lesson, and using properties on Text Vectors"
does not really tell us much about what you are doing.
How about a link if available, to the lesson or if not on line how about a series of steps which produces the problem every time. Explain it as if you are watching some one else at the computer with a basic knowledge of PSP and telling them what steps to do.

Sorry, when I am following this direction from a site:
"CHANGING THE TEXT PROPERTIES

The properties of each letter can be changed independently on the Vector Property screen. Right-click on any of the letters in the Layer palette and select Properties from the Menu bar. Now you can remove the stroke, make it wider, change the fill or no fill at all. You can also use some of the many different line styles around your text. The effects are instant so you can continue to change them as often as you want without having to Undo. You can also rotate your text by moving the handle on the bounding box.


Now that you know how to edit the text, use a different technique on each of your letters. Again, you can change the line style, the color, add a pattern, reshape the letter, change the stroke width, etc"

If I flood fill the individual text letters with a pattern or gradient, it allows me to change a letter or two, but when trying the third letter, I get an error message that psp is closing. I am attaching a screen shot for you to see.

I took the link from the screenshot that was posted. You have to go to the full link to get to the page with the full tutorial without logging in. If you only go to bw-forums you have to log in. It's a tutorial for X5 if that makes a difference.

Have tried to duplicate your error with my 32 bit X8 on Windows 10 and could not get your error. I also did the same steps in X7 and again no problems.
Text Properties is working correctly on my system.

Thank y'all for trying. Been using it most of the afternoon with no problem, (not doing the text lesson ) will try again tomorrow and see if keeps shutting down.

Hi fowlstack,
your PSP is perhaps corrupted.
Try to empty the cache when leaving.
If problem is still there, launch PSP with Shift key down until it asks you if you want to return the PSP initial state. Say Yes.
Warning : this remove all your Preferences and Workspace. Save the Preferences and the Workspace before to process the Shift hey method...
Your data (images, etc.) will stay intact.

File -> Preferences -> Reset Preferences -> Delete All Cache Files
