saving edited photos

Post by Rosemary »

I am using Corel PaintShop x8 Ultimate. When I edit a photo in Edit mode and then click on Save the Save changes screen comes up asking if I wish to save the edited photo. When I click Save another window appears stating that that photo already exists and do I wish to replace it?
This did not happen in X7. All I had to do was click the x at the top of the edited photo and it saved automatically. What am I missing or is there a work around?

Thanks,

Rosemary

Corel made a change to the "Save" process to allow you to change the compression of the image and that's why the "Save As" dialog box appears. This will only happen the first time you click "Save" on a specific image. The workaround is to hold the shift key while clicking "Save".

There has been a lot of discussion on this in the forum and a number of people don't like the new process. For your reading pleasure :) http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=57388

Thanks Kathy, I shall use your workaround. I find it a pain especially when one is editing 100+ photos. The link material will be interesting.

You can use the script at this link to replace the Save button in X8. Just bind it to an icon and place it on your toolbar.

So glad to have found this. It works in version X9, too. I never had this happen in X5.
