VideoStudio crashing upon launch

About 2-3 weeks ago, Video Studio started crashing right after I click to launch it. I uninstalled and reinstalled but that did not change anything and it told me that there were no updates available.

Below is the error message that is generated by windows. What is the solution to this problem? I am running windows 7.

I just saw the post about the hotfix so I going to install that now.

Problem solved. Installing the hotfix worked.

Strange that you were told that there is no updates because your version number indicates that service pack 1 is not installed - the latest version number is 17.1.0.22

you should install service pack one - and definitely install the hotfix - you will find both of them here

Thanks. Will install SP1 soonest. Assume that having already installed the Hotfix will not be problem.
