Canon 80D

Post by Martin5000 »

I upgraded to ASP3 and added the support for my Canon EOS 80D. Does the red star beside the name mean anything?
Next I made a test shot of Kodak Color chart using the built-in flash.
What happened to the colors?
Image
For just a second, as the image was loading into ASP, the colors appeared to be normal, and then quickly turn like the above.
The preview in the camera is normal.

Did i turn something on or off by mistake?

There were 4 files in the upgrade to ASP3, an EXE , a DEB, a PKG and an RPM. I only clicked the EXE. Did I forget something?

PS, browsing previous RAW files made by a T4i they do NOT have this issue.
PPS: Canon's own Digital Photo Pro opens the 80D raw files without the strange color shift.

Hi Martin5000,
Red star denotes new item added dynamically to AfterShot Pro 3 (ie. new item available).

Pink hue on your image clearly not the desired outcome. Can you please forward a RAW version of this image to sampleimage <at> corel <dot> com please? We'll investigate.

EXE is for Windows users and is the application file. PKG is for Mac. RPM/DEB for Linux.

Thanks for the post and it would be helpful if you can send us this file.

Sincerely
Greg Wood, AfterShot Pro product management

I hope your email can handle 14 MB files since RAW files tend to be rather big. Luckily I was using S-RAW in my 80D so it's not too big.
OK, file was send. Hope you find a solution to the magenta tint.

When can we expect the Canon 80D to be fully supported. I reinstalled the profile, in-case a fix was quietly slipped in, but to no avail. I still get the magenta tint to both the small preview and the main image. For a short while the preview image appears normal but then it becomes tinted too.

An interesting development.

Was reading about another raw converter's inability to read the sRAW format so I had another look and made some more tests.
Same image shot in RAW, mRAW and sRAW.

sRAW shows the magenta tint in both the preview and the main window.
mRAW shows a normal image for few seconds and then : No Image Available. If I then move the mouse pointer into the main image window, the image reappears. The preview image is always showing correctly.
RAW shows a normal image in both the preview and the main window.

The images stacked in the preview window, top to bottom, mRAW, RAW and sRAW

The histogram of the RAW file

The histogram of the sRAW file. Note the almost complete absence of the green channel

So it is the sRAW format that is causing the issue while the mRAW seems to have display problems. Thus, as long as i stick to the RAW format, it will be OK, except for the extra space that they require.
