PSP's color management is notoriously capricious and has caused various color issues for various people, and this dates back to the days when it was a JASC product. Many - and likely most, including me - people have it turned off and work quite happily with that decision.

Let's not forget that Forriner was the first to suggest it was perhaps a color management issue, although Flagpole did a good job of proving it.

Yup. Good ol PSP colour management. Again!!!! Never thought of it but now that it's mentioned it seems obvious. Color management has been broken in PSP forever. Corel don't seem to care.

Re: Every image I open looks pixelated!
If I may pop in, I just ran into this problem myself days ago with the X8 Trial and Kathy_9 [when I asked] suggested the exact same thing that Forriner and Flagpole said here and it fixed everything for me, tooafecelis wrote:Yaaaaay! Flagpole, you're right!![]()
Now, what are the implications of working without color management?
Thanks for all the help, off to learning more of this wonderful program.

Alvaro
Ps. And Thanks for the hi-contrasted image to show the difference
To answer your question:
Color Management seems to be a way to assure that 'what you see is what you get' when it comes to importing images and printing them out - matching colors. While these options would not really affect the average home user very much, they are important for working with multiple devices (such as different cameras, monitors and printers) for professional photographers, publishers or printing houses to assure that the output will be what they saw onscreen (or what will be "proper" for their intended uses). [This is my interpretation of Color Management]
Sadly, there seems to be an issue with X8 and Color Management [and for a while now, according to comments on this forum]... I did not run into this problem with X7 and do not know why it occured with X8, but disabling it completely solves the problem.
Because that was the only issue for me personally, I went ahead and Upgraded to X8 once it was solved with the helpfulness of this forum
Glad it's working for you, too - I just wanted to pop in and answer your query
