Hello,
At the moment, I have VS X-6 on my present machine, but if I download the upgrade to X-9 to it, can I somehow transfer the upgrade to a new machine at a later time?
Will X-9 transfer to a new machine?

Yes, of course you can.
If it's an upgrade, you will need your VSX6 as well as your VSX9 license key and make sure you copy all the downloaded installation files for VSX9 to DVD, USB or portable storage device

Re: Will X-9 transfer to a new machine?
OK, thanks a lot Robert.
I'm not sure I'm getting it now anyway. Until a little while ago, I was getting an offer to get the upgrade for 14.99 whenever I shut down VS. Now, I'm not getting that offer anymore. That's really bad timing. When I finally decide to get it, the offer stops.
Anyway, if I do get it, I'll do what you advised.
Thank you!

Re: Will X-9 transfer to a new machine?
Coincidentally enough your mention of X6 in this and another post, caused me to open my own X6. On closing it, I got the US$14.99 offer message, which was still valid. I actually went through the purchase process, even though I already own X9 Ultimate, because I felt the NewBlue Film Effects which came free with it (but not with my original X9) was worth that small amount of money. It all downloaded fine.
But the problem is of course that the process is done 'in house' with a separate window appearing for the Corel Online Store -- showing no URL I could copy for you. And if you go to the Store by opening Corel.com, then as you have found it requires a much large payment, currently only offering a 10% discount.

Re: Will X-9 transfer to a new machine?
I noticed that too. I usually got the offer when I would open VS6, but sometimes it didn't. When I got onto chat to ask about the offer, it seemed like they didn't believe me because they wouldn't even consider helping me without seeing the offer, which is strange because Corel is the one that made the offer in the first place. Anyway, I got X9 now and I"m not getting the other machine after all. I just installed it on this new machine I have now.
