Anyone editing 4k with Videostudio?

Post by spudgun »

Greetings, my wonderfully talented and helpful buddies.

Is anyone successfully editing 4k with Videostudio? I am about to acquire a Panasonic HC-X1000 and have read elsewhere that Videostudio "doesn't like" the files this camera produces! I'm sure there are other editing solutions available but to be honest, I have grown attached to Videostudio over the years and am loathe to switch to something else unless I absolutely have to.

Anyone with any experience of this camera or with 4k editing in general? I know you can edit out 4k to full HD but I want to render out into 4k too.

Any advice or thoughts, as always, hugely appreciated.

Kindest wishes,
Spud

Hi

Not sure about the camera but 4K has been an issue lately, user had problems rendering 4K above 4Gb, Corel provided a hot fix.

4K video is very demanding on your pc resources, you do not show any computer details in your profile.
Is your pc upto the job of editing 4K?

Please update your profile via the User Control Panel

Do you have any 4K samples that you can try prior to purchasing the camera.

What are you intending to produce with 4K video.

Hi Trevor. Many thanks for your response. Yes, I know computer requirements are hefty. I shall have to purchase a new machine as my old one will certainly struggle.
My main need is for STOCK footage clips or around 30 seconds, so only relatively smallish file sizes. I wasn't necessarily concerned with computer requirements, moreover whether Videostudio is up to the job of editing 4K.

I did indeed. Which failed to produce the answer I needed. Hence my query.
Kindest wishes.

Forget 4k for now. It's not there yet and requires great expense for new equipment.

I'm afraid it IS already here. People are buying 4K clips from Microsrtock agencies. Yes, equipment IS expensive. Surely someone on here must be working with 4k!

You failed to tell, but what I understand from you is that you are going to shoot stuff, cut it to 30 sec clips that will be uploaded for sell. than yes VS will do that.
.. but if you are going to do 8 tracks with 63 FX'ed 4K shots for a 33.5 minutes wedding... that's a different saga.

Well I gave you a link to another post where Erdna was having problems, so yes a 4K user, did you ask him on his post, and did you apply that Hot Fix?

Most users come here because they are having problems unless like Erdna they are regular users helping others.

I searched the forum for Panasonic HC-X1000 and found this post, so yes at least one person using that camera?
