Just curious. I'm trialing x8. I have identical settings in preferences for both PSPx7 and PSPx8. Yet x8 take about 25 seconds to load. Poor old x7 'only' take 7-8 seconds.
So what could be slowing down x8?
And has anyone else noticed a slow down in loading times.
So far, knock on wood, I've only had x8 crash once. While I was was using Color Replacer. Not sure if it was something I done or just one of those things. I rarely use it so maybe x7 does the same.

Re: Load time x7 v x8
Having used all the versions from 7 to 18 apart from x7 i would agree that this can be a problem...
I wouldn't say it affects X8 more than any of the other versions. It's frustrating because it doesn't seem to be doing anything at the time. It's not thrashing the hard disk or the cpu, it seems to be largely waiting and i don't know what for. It's sort of random.

Re: Load time x7 v x8
Not experiencing the OP problem unless missing something.
I do know that after a boot / starting the computer that the first opening of any version of PSP is longer than subsequent sessions when opening the same version.
eg
X2 19 sec first opening, 3 seconds second opening
X6 1 minute down to 5 seconds
X7 50 seconds down to 6 seconds
X8 56 seconds down to 6 seconds
In each case I double clicked the icon to start an started the stop clock.
Then when the work space opened I clicked on the New Document button and when the dialog box appears I stop the clock.
Looking at some other graphic programs on the same laptop:
Photoshop CC 1min 4 sec down to 10 sec
Lightroom CC 50 sec down to 11 sec
AftershotPro 1 14 sec down to 4 sec - yes faster than Lightroom - will have to checkout Aftershot Pro 3
AftershotPro 3 1 min 20 sec down to 10 sec Very slow the first time.

Re: Load time x7 v x8
I suspect one of two things or both. First, recent versions of PSP are calling home- why those annoying ads pop up before opening or after closing- takes time to establish the internet connection to Corel's back end server. Second, can be delays in program checking for the Protexis Licensing Service- PSIService- Corel's copy protection tool.

Re: Load time x7 v x8
In my case there is no internet connection. So that's not an issue.

Re: Load time x7 v x8
Even though you may have no internet connection, the program can take up some time searching for one. Not saying this is causing delay in load times, nor as I mentioned earlier the Protexis licensing, but regardless, Corel needs to address this issue.

I also have a sneaking suspicion pointing at protexis.
It serves no purpose.
