Having completed a 40min movie, I have created a video file from the share selection menu choosing same as project settings .]Using Windows DVD Maker I encounter the following fault.
(An error has occurred when burning the DVD) this happens every time at 96.4%.completion of the burning process the disc then ejects.
I have tried the movie on another computer and the same thing happens so I don't think it is the burner, I have also tried different DVD discs with exactly the same result. Has anybody had this problem and if so, can they advise me how to deal with it.
Thank you
jaysto

Re: DVD fault when burning
Well, in principle that sounds fine. The problem for us, though, is that you don't tell us what those project settings are, or even what your original video's properties are. If you have edited a project in the Editing module and want to burn a DVD from it, I would be going to Share > MPEG-2. I'd make sure I was selecting Properties that were DVD compliant (720 x 576 (PAL) or 480 (NTSC). Usually Upper Field First. 25 fps (PAL) or 29.97 (NTSC). Bitrate max 8000 kbps and audio either LPCM or Dolby.jaysto wrote:I have created a video file from the share selection menu choosing same as project settings.
If you then produce a new mpeg-2 of your project with these Properties, and then insert that new file in the burning module, making sure that "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" is ticked in the Burning Options module in the bottom left of screen, you should not have any further problem.

Re: DVD fault when burning
Hello Ken thank you for your reply.
The information I should have included in my post is as follows
Project properties.
Pal (25 frames per second)
24 bit 720x576
Lower field first
DVD pal 4.3
Properties
Pal DVD
Attributes 720x576 16.9
Mpeg 2 video lower field first
Variable (Max 8000 KPS)
I will now copy your alterations and hope for success.
Thank you.

Re: DVD fault when burning
Don't change your settings except for one thing. If the original video was Lower Field First, then leave it as that. But I also notice that while your original video is 16:9, the Project Properties would produce a 4:3 video, which would have letterbox black on either side of the image, and the image itself would probably be squished. So you need to change the Project Properties to 16:9.
But I just realised I had not read your original post correctly. I missed the bit where you said you were using Windows DVD Maker. Is there any reason you were using that instead of the burning module in Video Studio itself? What version of VS are you using?
But if you did use VS, it would simply be necessary to produce your new mpeg-2 in the Editing module, then start a new project. Don't worry about giving it a name -- the objective is just to clear the editing timeline. Then you go to Share > DVD. The Burning module will open and its timeline should be empty. Click on Add Video in the top left of the burning screen and browse to where your new mpeg-2 is located and select it. Click on the cogwheel icon in the bottom left of screen and make sure the box beside "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" is ticked. (It is by default in X8 and X9.) Build your menu if you want one then Burn.

Re: DVD fault when burning
Hello Ken thank you for your reply.
The version I am using is Prox2 quite old I know but it works for me.
I have altered the project properties to 16.9 and left lower field first in both boxes.
Now the interesting thing is that I am now able to complete burning the Dvd without
any errors. This plays perfectly on my computer, but I have yet to try it on the dvd player.
I found that Windows DVD Maker seems less complicated than the burners in Prox 2 and Prox3
Do you think the 16.9 and the 4.3 have been the cause of my troubles?

Re: DVD fault when burning
Strange question cannuck
prox2 is obviously Videostudio Pro X2
followed by Pro X3, Pro X4 etc - all the way to Videostudio Pro X9 -
or was it before your time
