Hi Everyone:
I've had videostudio x9 for about a month and have had no problems with ScreenCap x9 until recently. when trying to record it goes through the 3-2-1 countdown then provides me with a:
Prepare Record Failed!!! #48
error message, and we cannot record. When I open up settings and hit sound check I get an error #29
We are trying to record videogame play, which we have successfully done in the past. If I disable the audio capture we can record video only, and not even sound from the game.
Devices
our PC Lenovo H320
A logitech USB H320 headset with microphone
I have also tried with a Nexxtech microphone and the same problem persists
We are using VS X9 ScreepCap program
I've uninstalled the driver software for the headset, and reinstalled it. I validated that the input volume of the device is set to 66%, under the recording devices settings. I can successfully record my voice using windows sound recorder in conjunction with the headset, so strongly doubt that its a hardware issue.
Reviewing my son's videos May 9th was the last time he has successfully recorded audio on his videos. Reviewing windows update history, there have been 18 Windows updates since that date - mostly listed as security.
ScreenCap X9 has stopped working

Re: ScreepCap X9 has stopped working
I"m having the same problem. I googled it and tried many different things and nothing has worked yet. The last time I recorded my screen, it worked fine, but now I just keep getting that error message. Cannot record the screen.
Ironically, I was comparing Camstudio and Videostudio online and VS got a higher rating than Camtasia. I wanted to see if Camtasia was better at screen recording. So I was happy that VS got a higher rating because I already have it. Then, lo and behold, it doesn't work.

Re: ScreepCap X9 has stopped working
Unfortunately, this is an issue which no one as yet, has come up with a satisfactory explanation, in my case with VSX6, I spent many hours with Tech. Support trying to resolve the issue and to this day, if I install VSX6 screen cap just does not work, however I have never had an issue with VSX7/8/9 always worked perfectly and have never had an issue with recording voice and system audio at the same time.
I must admit that generally for screen capture I use Camtasia Studio 8, which is a far superior recording program, giving me more recording options, the only reason I can think that VS got a higher rating is that VS is free and Camtasia cost AU$390

Hi Bob
Was that rating against Camtasia or Camstudio, you mention both programs?
Different programs and as far as I know Camstudio is free? on the other hand Camtasia costs a lot.......

Re: ScreenCap X9 has stopped working
Oh, sorry, I did say Camstudio, but I meant Camtasia. I always get those names mixed up. Here is the link that I was referring to for the ratings.
http://video-editing.softwareinsider.co ... dio-Pro-X8
Of course it's always a matter of opinion. The main reason I was checking was because I want to do screen capture and I was under the impression that you can zoom in and out on the fly with Camtasia. However, I downloaded the trial of Camtasia 8 and that didn't appear to be the case. Some tutorials I see on Youtube, etc. seem so fluid and seemless the way that the creator zooms in and out while speaking. But I guess there's either some other trick to it, or they pause the video at that point and go to the zoom and pan feature and work with it then resume working on the video.
Anyway, I guess I'll figure it out one of these days.
