After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear

Hasn't been mentioned in this thread for a while... Anyone else tried and failed to export 100+ images?

I tried to export into a more 'Facebook' friendly size of 1024 on the long side, and it failed. As many errors as there were images.

Corel is saying much by their absence in this thread. They released a broken 'upgrade', the support staff dances around the problem (yes, I have a support ticket -3637509- which they forced into closure), and they don't reply here.

Can you say 'Lightroom'?

I got this advice:

"Go to File > Preferences. Next click on Import and Cache and remove the check mark for "Create Previews during Importing and File System Browsing". Lastly, click Apply / OK, close and relaunch AfterShot Pro 3."

At first this didn't seem to help. But now later, after rebooting my computer, I've been using ASP3 and this problem has been gone (knocks wood..).

EDIT: just after I posted this message, the bug occurred again... back to using ASP2

On June 11th (6 days ago) I responded to my ticket with them telling them that the problem is not fixed. I directed them to this forum thread and attached a couple of image of the problem.

Today I got an email from them saying "I am writing to let you know that I will be closing your case as it has been inactive for several days. "

Yes, they have done nothing for several days.

Same. I had a couple of tickets lodged andafter the standard 'rename the directories' runaround BS, the cases were closed and nothing.
What an absolute crock. Are you planning to actually address this Corel???

Dobly - don't bother. It does the same thing under Mint. I've tested it against both Win 10 and Mint. Same problems.
I'd be interested to know what RAW format you are using - I'm .CR2 and from my (quick) scan here, it seems that a lot of the problems happen with .CR2's?

Corel's support suggestion was 'uninstall and reinstall'. It's ALREADY a clean install, the problems cropped up the very first time I used it!!!

Well I didn't build a new pc for it, but I did get to try it on Mint 17.3. You are right, exactly the same problem. I only load the app every few days now to see if there is an update. Thus far nothing. I just close it after that. Until they fix it there is no point.

In the meantime I am using Raw Therapee. I almost have that working with my own workflow (or rather I am learning how it does the stuff I need). It is not as fast going from one image to the next. Take a second or two each time you switch images. ASP is super fast at this (when it works). Other than that is does all the same stuff. Maybe even more.

Other than that RT is pretty amazing for 'free'. I'll use it until they fix ASP3.

<edit> BTW. I am using CR2 files out of my Canon 7d

Heh. I'm also using RAW from a 7D. But in the meantime I've reverted back to 2.4, and same, I start 3 every so often to find that there's no fixes.

It's a total random experience for me. Sometimes it will export 5 images (out of 400), sometimes 50. Sometimes none.

I reported that this does not help, I got the following answer:

I got the same suggestion. Alas I could not find a /library folder or the other thing. Neither of them are anywhere in my ASP3 install folder.

Now they want a copy of my DXDiag output and a copy of the result of some Windows Audit software that they want to me to download and run.

The strangest thing they have asked for is a copy of the 'image' that I am having a problem with. Image? There is not single image. It is all images. My images are CR2 raw files from a little known camera from an unknown company.. ie: A Canon 7D.

Surely they have have tested this software with that type of RAW file.

Using a Canon 80D and normal RAW, not mRAW or sRAW) when I select an image and want to use the Blemish remover, I get "No Image available." Tried to Crop, same error. the histogram has disappeared and to add insult to injury, when I try to export to JPG via the batch system, it reports, "Batch JPEG Proof complete: 1 item in 0.031 seconds. 0.031 seconds per image. (1 error)."

What error and where is it filed?
what about all this No Image?
Did anyone even beta test this?


The price was not that high when I upgraded but I'm slowly getting buyer's remorse. Other products are starting to look interesting. Even if they are more expensive, at least they work as promised.

I have just upgraded to Pro3, I use a Canon 6D with 24-105mm F4 II lens, and am getting the same problem with "No image available" after selecting a shot. I have repaired the software, but still the problem exists. Then looked on the forum and see pages of the same issue - very annoying. I had been using for a short while Pro2 before with no problem, so thought to upgrade would be good. There is also on the table of supported lens the 24-105mm f4 II is not listed in the lens correction table, yet it is there for pro 2. Does anybody know when this maybe fixed.

I got this reply from Corel customer support:

"The issue that you contacted us about has already been directed to our engineering team to look into and hopefully get resolved in a timely fashion. The earliest a fix is possible is in a future service pack or new version. We cannot comment on what may (or may not) be in as yet unreleased software. This includes both features and fixes."

'Hopefully' and 'or may not' are the wrong answers for any company, whatever their business is.
I was about to recommend a school to buy a series of licenses, but now I advice them not to. I would loose them as a client.

Corel just issued a Hot Fix for ASP-3. No mention of a fix for the 'missing image' bug.... Can anyone shed more light?
