Re: After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear
So I uninstalled ASP 3, disabled my anti-virus and re-installed ASP 3.
Out of the box, the No Image seems to have disappeared but I also seem to have lost the histogram. These a Canon EOS T4i RAW files. Both the Standard Histogram and the Color / Curves are blank.
I closed ASP 3 and reopened. Now the histogram is showing, after a short delay when the image is selected. After the first selection, if I then return to the previous image the histogram display is marginally faster. closing and reopening ASP 3 doesn't change this
Installed the GradFilterPro. Seems to work.
Installed the Canon EOS 80D camera again. The magenta color cast is still there. The histogram shows the green channel displaced far to the left.
Spoke too soon. Lost the histogram again.
Closed and reopened, this time with Task Manager, also open. Every time I apply and un-apply one of the tools, the AfterShot.exe memory used goes up. As I click on each next image, memory usage really sky-rockets. A memory leak issue?

Well I didn't build a new pc for it, but I did get to try it on Mint 17.3. You are right, exactly the same problem. I only load the app every few days now to see if there is an update. Thus far nothing. I just close it after that. Until they fix it there is no point.billlagr wrote:
Dobly - don't bother. It does the same thing under Mint. I've tested it against both Win 10 and Mint. Same problems.
I'd be interested to know what RAW format you are using - I'm .CR2 and from my (quick) scan here, it seems that a lot of the problems happen with .CR2's?
Corel's support suggestion was 'uninstall and reinstall'. It's ALREADY a clean install, the problems cropped up the very first time I used it!!!
In the meantime I am using Raw Therapee. I almost have that working with my own workflow (or rather I am learning how it does the stuff I need). It is not as fast going from one image to the next. Take a second or two each time you switch images. ASP is super fast at this (when it works). Other than that is does all the same stuff. Maybe even more.
Other than that RT is pretty amazing for 'free'. I'll use it until they fix ASP3.
<edit> BTW. I am using CR2 files out of my Canon 7d

Re: After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear
I noted that earlier in this very thread. Every time you open and image or use a tool the memory used by the app goes up. It tends to start playing up around the 800mb mark.Martin5000 wrote:Every time I apply and un-apply one of the tools, the AfterShot.exe memory used goes up. No image available....
How did this version pass beta testing??? Just crashing all the time. I can't use this version, and apparently I'm not the only one...

Re: After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear
For linux crashing I discovered that some jpg were being miss read as tif. There are currently 2 ways to handle this, 1- delete the jpg one file at a time if you start from the command line ASP3. It will crash on the file and list it's name, or 2- After starting from the command line when ASP3 crashes and list the file causing it. Load that file in GIMP and export it as a jpg. Needless to say deleting file is a few steps shorter. All my raw files were importable so I can reprocess them.
Thanks.

Re: After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear
Going around deleting jpg files is NOT a solution. It's not even a workaround. My jpgs are the ones developed by my camera. I can't just reprocess them.
Tried going back to ASP 2, but now it crashed after editing one image.
Tried to work without catalogs in ASP 3, but it still fails. No image available before I can edit.
Maybe it's something wrong with the parsing of XMP files?

Re: After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear
- Removed Aftershot2, Aftershot2x64 and Aftershot3x64 with apt-get purge.
- Deleted /tmp files
- Deleted everything under ~/.config/Corel
- Deleted ~/.AfterShot*
- Reinstalled ASP3
Seems to be working for now, but Corel really needs to find the source of this problem.
I'm guessing I'll end up having the same problems again soon....
edit wow....bugged again 5 minutes after this post....

Re: After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear
Seems like I found a solution. Deleted the last lines in ~/.config/Corel/AfterShot\ Pro\ v3.conf and the "No Image available" bug went away:
Here is a diff of the conf file before and after:
Needs further investigation, but I'm hoping for a solution sooon...

Hey Guys a tip to try is to switch off the hardware acceleration from the grafic card. On the Mac book it seems to work. Greetz Achim

Hi Guys ,
I have tested on Mac El Capitan 10.11.5.
Opencl on/off and OpenCL Utilization minium/maxium it doesn't affect this bug.
Furthermore, I have sent a message regarding this bug to
Corel via Facebook messages.
Hopefully I'll get a response soon from Corel

Re: After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear
Same "No image available" on my setup (system info attached). I keep restarting after opening 5-50 images. Annoying

Re: After Shot Pro 3 - Images disappear
The chap handling my support ticket (or not handling it) suggested I uninstall ASP3 and reinstall it.
I did that. Seemed ok for the first minute or so. But then i hit the number 5 on an image to rate it. The image on the right disappeared.

Same thing here with linux. The suggested I uninstall and reinstall which I did with no change. Then they said that I should create a new admin user and install under that account which I did. Still no change to error message jpg being read as tif.Dobly wrote:The chap handling my support ticket (or not handling it) suggested I uninstall ASP3 and reinstall it.

One month since the release of this version. Almost no communication about this and people who bought the new version can't use it (I didn't buy it yet).
