AfterShot Pro 3 "new" lens correction development kit

Post by jshprentz »

The AfterShot Pro 3 Features web page promises a new Lens Correction Development Kit and "new, sought-after lens corrections that build on the hundreds of lenses already supported by AfterShot."

The ASP3 Lens Correction database still does not list the Sony Alpha-6000 (ILCE-6000) or its lenses.

No problem, I thought, I can try the new Lens Correction Development Kit. But where is the development kit? The User Guide does not contain the word "development."

I compared the ASP2 and ASP3 Lens Correction forms in the Detail editing tab. ASP3 adds four buttons (outlined below in yellow) to Edit, Load, Save, or Reset the lens correction settings. Could this be the "new Lens Correction Development Kit"?

Please tell me there is more.

Hey Joel,

Alex here from the Corel Photo team. The new buttons you identified will enable you to update the database right now. If you have the required correction values for a particular lens, you can go ahead and enter them under the Manual tab (next to Database). You're right, though... there is more. The new lens correction DK is having the final touches applied. Hang tight -- we plan to have the set of instructions available next week and will share a link as soon as they're ready.

What about unresolved bugs dear Alex? What about the price? $60 for upgrade is bad joke, right? Full version cost $80... $20 sale for loyal customers? Really?

@Alex, can I ask you a question? Why doesn't ASP use the lensfun library like many other raw-convertors? And/or why not the lens correction meta info inside the images files themselves? Is there a specific reason for this?

Hello Alex, could I have this link too please?
I have a full set of numbers ready to go using the methods and software recommended. The file structure of the camera profiles seems to be different to the previous version of Aftershot pro

Any updates on availability of the new lens correction development kit? Link, instructions, etc.?

I am really liking ASP 3 but am disappointed in the lack of correction data for some basic and common Nikkor lens. I only have 3 and of course none of them have values in the database. :(

Thanks!

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies here and apologies for the delay in getting back, seems I forgot to check the notify of replies box... that's my bad!

Here's the link to the set of instructions I received from the team: http://help.aftershotpro.com/aftershot/ ... rofile.pdf

I've passed along your suggestions to incorporate the Lensfun database into ASP3. I feel like the dev team has probably looked into this, but I'm not totally sure so I've asked for little insight.

I also made sure to check the notification box, so I should know when you guys reply here (oops!).

Thanks again everyone, and let me know if there's anything else I can help with.

Cheers,
Alex
