Paint shop Pro X5 and plugins

Post by barbara51 »

My Paint shop Pro X5 worked fine until I installed Windows Office. Then it kept crashing and most of the plug ins do not work. They worked prior to that. It is possible that there was an update installed that PSP did not like. A friend says that her plug-ins only work in 32 bit. My computer is 64 bit, but my program says it is 32 bit. I have uninstalled psp several times and reinstalled it. I have also uninstalled Office and re-installed it. Nothing works. i have another program giving me trouble too and maybe it will be fixed if there is a fix for this. I looked at windows updates and it only shows a few updates and I do not know which update might be wrong. So I am hoping someone here can figure this out for me. I am so stressed from this. Thank you.

Your friend is correct that most plug-ins only work in 32-bit and PSPX5 is 32-bit so you're fine there. I too have Office installed (Office 2010) and I have no conflict with PSPX5. I just tested it and the program works and so do my plug-ins.

Have you tried restoring PSPX5 to it's default settings. If you are not familiar with the process here are some instructions https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... l-settings.

Let me emphasize the step in the above instructions where you save your workspace if you have not already done so. If you don't, it's not a disaster but you will have to re-do any customization you have already done.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Kathy. That was the answer. I put it back to default mode and tried a plug-in and it works. I am going to try the same principle to the other program that is not working for me. I hope that works just as easily. hugs, Barbara

@ barbara51

The difference between your system and Kathy's system is that you use Windows 10 and Kathy Windows 7.
PSPX5 wasn't made for Windows 10.
