Upgrade to Aftershot3 for $60 ?? Are you serious?
Upgrade to Aftershot3 for $60 ?? Are you serious dear Corel? After terrible support, tons of bugs etc. you want us to pay about $ 60 for "new" release, where those bugs may be (or may be not) resolved????

When I lanuched ASP 2.3.0.99 after running the service release updater, I see an ad for ASP3...limited time upgrade offer of $44 USD.

I keep saying this, but I would gladly pay 200 or 300 dollars a year for software I use every day.
If only ASP would work on the image quality.

Never upgrading before I get a stable release as Bibble Pro 5 with a perfect Noise integration for Sony. Since two years I work with Photo Ninja

Upgrade ????
And won't open a DNG file from a camera that's been out for a year.
It's a DNG file folks, Universal, yet Corel makes it Camera Brand specific.
Photo Paint and Paint Shop Pro open it, Ya might want to look at coding ASP to do the same.

Re: Upgrade to Aftershot3 for $60 ?? Are you serious?
So I have to pay $60 for an upgrade and an additional $15 for Gradfilter which Corel broke and now uses to blackmail me into upgrading, by making it only available by bying "in-product".
That's kind of an own goal, Corel, because I have no intention of upgrading at this point (paying you for fixes to issues that should have been resolved long ago) and the only thing I really needed was Gradfilter. But I will not be blackmailed.
So now it's goodbye Corel og goodbye AfterShot. RawTherapee seems to be doing quite well compared to AfterShot when it comes to image quality and it's free and it has Gradfilter as default.

Re: Upgrade to Aftershot3 for $60 ?? Are you serious?
Today I use ASP2 only for digitizing slides with my stone-age Canon 40D. For Fuji X-Trans speed and quality of ASP2/3 is not acceptable at all, so I use Darktable even if I like the GUI of ASP more. So I will definitely not upgrade until I see major improvement in basic functions - from experience of the last years this means probably never.
I use Bibble/ASP since 4.9.5. The acquisition of Bibble by Corel was and is a total disappointment.
Good bye for now ...

Fair Comment and one that I happily agree with.lundbech wrote:So I have to pay $60 for an upgrade and an additional $15 for Gradfilter which Corel broke and now uses to blackmail me into upgrading, by making it only available by bying "in-product".

But consider the other possibility - http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=59472

Re: Upgrade to Aftershot3 for $60 ?? Are you serious?
Not so, for Linux users, as perhaps Hobgoblin meant to say. Linux users don't have the tab for "in-product purchase", so you can only buy the plugin through your normal browser; once you have done that, as he does say, you can use it with ASP 2. I would happily have paid Roger $15 for a 64-bit version of GradFilterPro - in fact, I offered to. So did I mind paying Corel for it instead? Not so much!lundbech wrote:So I have to pay $60 for an upgrade and an additional $15 for Gradfilter which Corel broke and now uses to blackmail me into upgrading, by making it only available by bying "in-product".
Is it unreasonable for Corel to expect us to pay some kind of annual maintenance for the use of the software? That is how I see the cost of "upgrade", and not only for ASP. From my own experience, DXO have just suggested that owners of DXO Optics Pro version 10 could choose between carrying on using the existing V10 software and camera-lens plugins or paying €69 for the upgrade to V11, all for some rather nebulous feature improvements. What I have read about Adobe's licensing policies on Photoshop suggests that they are on the same track.
Now it may be that DXO and Adobe have better support departments than Corel. It would be hard to imagine that they are worse, anyway. It may be that their development teams have been more successful in getting rid of running sores like Highlight Recovery, or White Balance adjustment. It may even be that their user base is large enough to ensure that beta testing identifies all the new "features" before they release an "upgrade".
But the principle of paying an annual amount to keep our software running day-to-day doesn't bother me at all. Who knows, one day ASP 4 or 5 may be so bullet-proof that Corel can afford to move onto a rental model, just like Adobe with CC.

Re: Upgrade to Aftershot3 for $60 ?? Are you serious?
I had expected a bit more innovation put into the product from a major upgrade. Most disapponited that there doesn't seems to be a upgrade pricing on the Grad Pro filter. It's not that much money, but there should have been a benefit for existing paid customers vs new customers. I have registered my ASP version at Corel for every upgrade but absolutely no information from Corel about this new upgrade on email, and no information on the Grad Pro filter aquistition. Only regular emails from Corel, but not a single mention of a new major upgrade... I have only noticed the that there was a new major version through this forum. The ASP 2.4.0.119 Help > Check for Updates only gives a "There are no updates available at this time". If the point with this major upgrade is to have as many customers as possible upgrade to the latest version, some kind of notification to existing customers, be it by email or throught the application would have done the trick. A new major version and nobody but those that frequent this forum or get your Facebook notifications know anything about it. Brilliantly splendid job Corel...
For me, I think I'll stay on the fence for this ASP/GFP upgrade a month or two...
