Need your help Getting PSPP X3

Post by AnunRhama »

Hey. I need your help getting an older version of the software. I bought PaintShop Pro X8 this week and immediately asked for a refund :D... in the same week at least. The reasons why is because some of the new features are pretty crappy, stemming from brushes (movement, step, hardness...), canvas zoom, some tools that have been altered and are now unusable comparing to the previous versions. I will write about all of the problems in the future in the new post, but for now I just need to get my hands on an older version.

And while we're at it, what I need is Corel PaintShop Pro Photo X3. A Serial Number atleast (cause I have a Trial version installation). There is no online download (except for the trials), only delivery, and they do not ship to my location because they do not go worldwide with deliveries. Some of them I contacted about this (like on Amazon.co.uk), and they are willing to send me a code through an email if I want to pay for it. But I want to know if there is somewhere else where I can buy a download version and maybe ask for a refund if there is a problem... you know like in a fairy tale :D. Are there people that you know that are just selling codes? I saw that there is X6 versions on Amazon that you can buy and get online, and they probably have some refund options. And that is newest that I would go. X7 and X8 sucks. The only problem X6 has is difficulty mirroring layers. But I can live with that and brushes are fine. On the other hand, for me, X3 has everything perfect, and I used one once and it kinda grew on me.

So what do you guys think? It's kinda silly that the newest version is not the best, and if you want to get any previous software (some that are only couple of years old), you have to go through retail. But it is what it is. Any tip on getting the previous ones (especially X3, not including X7), it would be more than helpful.

Thanx.

Fairy tale yes finding X3 anywhere that would have a return policy. It's just too old.
As far as other versions, finding a seller to give a refund on older software just isn't going to happen usually.
I'm still using X6 and am quite happy with it especially the 64 bit version. X4 & X5 were both vast improvements over X3, just not 64 bit.
Good luck.

Actually it is a pity that Corel and perhaps other software vendors don't continue to sell older versions of their software at a very reduced price , but with no support or refund.
I still use X2 for the bulk of my processing.
If others could get say X2 at $20, it would be a good way to encourage new users to get started on the Corel PSP path and perhaps later upgrade to the newest path.
For those disenchanted with Photoshop, but not willing to spend almost $100 yet for a new program this could be the the way for Corel to get newer purchasers.

If anyone here has X3 that's registered and it's not using it... hey, here's a hungry soul. I am ready to make a deal... or X6 even... I don't wanna be stuck with X8 with Adobe life (and soul) subscription being only other option...

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I agree that selling older versions for a lower price would be interesting but support would be harder to do since it is an older version, those versions might not be compatible with newer machines and OS and not offering support would annoy other users who would complain that they are not supporting their own product. See the dilemma?

The program is rarely available only at full price. $100 is the full price of the ultimate version. Unless one needs extra programs, they don't need to pay $100. And if anyone wants to watch for sales, they tend to have them quite often so unless one is in a hurry, wait a few weeks and you get an even lower price.

If someone wants an older version, they can try Amazon. I heard that SOME are available, but there is no guarantee either.

That's why I placed the caveat " but with no support or refund." In other words you get what you would get on Amazon but at least getting it from Corel would provide an unused key.
As well if someone is having trouble operating one of these older versions then there is a wealth of information on this forum and people willing to help (in effect providing support).

Re running older versions on newer machines this problem occurs with the latest versions with some people having trouble using X8 on the Surface Pro.
As for me I am able to run all my versions PSP8, X2 - X7 on an Xp machine and in addition X8 under Windows 7, 8.1, Windows 10.

I wonder if some of the older versions would run on the Surface Pro. Would be interesting to have a survey done. Is the problem with Surface Pros only of recent PSP origin?
