Moved mount point and reistalled ASP3 - all seems to work.

but ofcourse this is something that still needs to be fixed within ASP.

I am also getting a segfault crash when trying to open certain folders/images. I identified one of the pictures causing the problem and moved it to a new empty folder with only that picture in it, and ASP3 crashes every time I try to load that folder. I sent a stack trace and core dump to support, but just standard 'clean up' response so far.

I started this tread several weeks ago and uninstalled ASP3 shortly after installing it to try. Today I took the plunge and paid for the program. I have spent the last 8 hours importing directories by deleting jpg that are miss ID as TIF files. Thank god it was only the jpg. I've imported all the raw files without having to delete any. A guess on my side was I deleted half of my jpg which means I will have to go back and reprocess them some time later. Most of the jpg were from the old bible programs. I'm now going to try and install some plugins as I didn't want to change any problems with them. I would highly recommend Corel do a better job testing software before releasing it as. Right now I can't recommend this program to anyone using linux as it's very unstable, if you have been using Bible or AfterShotPro2.

@dflyer, thanks for this update, and now I'm sure I won't upgrade until this issue with Linux is fixed. I'm not going through two years of imported and adjusted images. Unbelievable this hasn't been fixed yet, while there already was an update with new presets. My guess is these presets were already there and they wanted to make a good impression by getting a new update out so quick

. This issue with the Linux version is serious and should have been fixed within a few days.

A work around the deleting of a jpg is to open the jpg miss ID as TIF with GIMP and exporting them as jpg. The only problem with this work around is that it's one file at a time. It's easy to delete and recreate a raw to jpg since the raws weren't damaged.

No, there has to be a solution from Corel, and there will be. I just hope I don't have to wait until Christmas.

I'm going to post this error message from a file processed with ASP3. I had just created this file with a watermark from a jpg file and saved it with ASP3. Exited ASP3 and restarted the program and the file crashed with this error.

Importing: "/home/gary/Pictures/Family/Tennessee/Izabelle-42516-DSCN3275.jpg"
TIFF Error: /home/gary/Pictures/Family/Tennessee/Izabelle-42516-DSCN3275.jpg "Not a TIFF file, bad magic number 55551 (0xd8ff)"
defaults: "DefaultRendered.xmp"
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Opened the above file with GIMP and exported as a jpg and now ASP3 loads without crashing. I believe this bug is totally ASP3 ability to identify it's own saves as jpg. Wake up Corel and fix this bug.

I so much agree on this. I find it really incomprehensible that there is absolutely no communication about this (and other stuff).
I think there has been one reply, saying that it was pushed to the developers and that we should 'hang tight'. But I've seen this responsive everywhere, with every problem, here on the forum and on the ASP facebook page. It seems to be the current companies motto.

I managed to tweak AfterShot Pro (ASP-3) to behave better on a HiDPI (4K) display on Ubuntu 16.10 64 bit:
The solution is to use the system provided Qt 5.6.1 instead of the Corel supplied Qt 5.4.0.
The Qt 5.6.1 comes with usable support forHiDPI, see here: http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/highdpi.html
After the install:
sudo rm /opt/AfterShot3(64-bit)/libQt5*

And then in order to run it:
export QT_QPA_PLATFORM_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins;
export QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=1
AfterShot3X64

it is also possible to use
export QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2
instead of
export QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=1

And I also selected "Use smaller fonts..." from Display options.
I have not tested this thoroughly, but it seems to work and is a much better workplace than before - where everything was so tiny, literally unusable.l
