GIFs not animating in VS X7
Never had trouble with GIFs in VS before, but now they behave like a static pictures. Based on an old post in this forum from a user with the same problem, I reinstalled QuickTime (despite the security vulnerabilities owing to Apple's failure to support QT for windows, which is why I uninstalled QT last month). I upgraded X7 to SP1, added Hotfix 1, rebooted. Tried using the animated GIF ("Winter Fair") from that old forum posting. Still no joy.

It certainly seems that things have changed in Videostudio since X4 - I have found now that in X7 (and X8) you need to do things somewhat differently to get an animated gif to play in Videostudio
try this
Open 'File explorer' (Windows Explorer) and browse to the gif - RIGHT click on it and choose "Open With" - choose Videostudio
after a few seconds the animated gif will appear in the timeline - playable
if you want it in a library drag and drop from the timeline to the library where a copy will remain

It seems most likely to me that Updates Under Windows 7 are the most « problemactic events » and that Microsoft wants to force us to upgrade to Windows 10.
