Hello Everyone,
I have been using VStudio X7 for over a year and i've had no issues.. until recently.
The projects that i was trying to produce were:
40mins long
mostly MP4 and PEG files
they had accompanying text on the bottom of the screen, sometimes for a number of minutes.
I had been trying to do this not just at work but on my home laptop (specs on the side).
The problem i encountered was that, once hitting share - dvd, then choosing a dvd menu, and finally hitting burn, the program will start to render, then get stuck at 6% with the description 'Rendering title'.
It didnt really seem to matter what computer i was using, (i ended up using 2 computers at work, one with newer technology than the other, and also my home computer).
what always came up after about an hour of being stuck by this point, was that the program was 'isolated' from windows because corel stopped communicating with the operating system.
Details from event Log:
there were issues with mcf110.dll
542bad16
Steps taken to try and solve the problem:
1 - uninstall and re-install the 64bit version with its hotfix and service pack 1
2 - uninstall 64 bit version and install 32bit along with hotfix and sp1
3 - uninstall corel completely
4 - updating Quicktime
5 - to repair the mfc110.dll issue, i installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2012.
6 - Install 64bit version again with its hotfix and sp.
7 - try to burn sample videos from within the Corel library.
After all this and still getting the crash, i ended up having to use iMovie.. which worked when testing, so ended up having to convert everything to MP4 and burning the dvds that were needed.
Questions:
Has anyone come accross this problem?
how did you solve it?
many thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Re: VS X7 crashing/not responding when rendering at 6%: titl
This gives a sort of hint as to what else you might try, but using Video Studio rather than iMovie. While VS will usually convert and burn a video project in its burning module, sometimes this does not work, which seems to be the case for you. I think you are assembling your project, and doing your editing in the VS editing module, then going straight to Share > DVD which opens the burning module and the project appears in the burning timeline. At least that is what the message "Rendering Title" (although I would have expected to say 'Converting Title" followed by the slightly strange message "Convert step got some problems")....so ended up having to convert everything to MP4 and burning the dvds that were needed.
A workflow which a number of us here have used consistently for many versions of Video Studio would be to first convert the project into a new video in the final format required by the Burning module, but to do this in the Editing module. So if you want to burn a DVD, you first convert your project into a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 by going to Share and selecting MPEG-2, and one of the subsets which is DVD compatible. When you have your new video clip, you can play it back to make sure everything is the way you want it.
When satisfied, start a new project. Don't bother giving it a name -- the objective is just to clear the editing timeline. Then go to Share and select DVD. The burning module will open and its timeline should be empty. If there is anything in it, delete it. Then go to the Add Media button in the top left of screen, and navigate to your new DVD-compatible mpeg-2 and select it so that it appears in the burning timeline. Build your menu and burn. This time everything should work.

Re: VS X7 crashing/not responding when rendering at 6%: titl
Good morning Ken.
Thank you for your reply.
This is definitely a good idea as the sharing to mp4 function did work, but what I never tried was to then use them to create a new project file to then burn within corel.. I had pretty much given up by that point and exported all the individual clips as a smart project (I think that is what is called)
Imovie did the rest.
I only chose the imovie option because schools are now required to turn in video evidence for a PE and Drama and the deadline for all this was imminent and so I had run out of time to sort it.. shame I didn't get the videos earlier..
I will try again this morning with the same files and will post later how I got on.
I still don't understand why corel did not work this time as we have used it before without issues..
The fact that it kept mentioning Mfc110.dll in the windows event log for all 3 computers, all running win7 Pro seem to suggest that a windows update could well be to blame.
Thanks again.. i will try your suggestion and post back.
