1. Photoexplorer 8.5 leaves avi files files open, even without viweving the avi, just browsing to the folder for preview, I can't delete files later without closing PEX8.5 first. Also File explorer can't delete these files ...
Sometimes it has happened also to jpg files.
2. When I open 2 folder trees and delete a file from one subfoldfer, then the other folder tree is closed instantly and I have to navigate back to the second folder to open it each time again. Very tedious.

Try reinstalling Photo Explorer. There might just be something wrong with the installed program files on your computer.
When you install a software, the installer extracts temporary files needed for the installation on a temp folder. These folders are usually:
C:\Windows\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp
If the temp folder holds old installer files that may be corrupted or are duplicates with the same filename but are used for a different software, it could cause a problem for your new installation of the software. Before you reinstall the software, make sure to clean the Temp folders.
The Local Settings folder is a hidden folder so you have to enable Windows Explorer to see hidden files and folders. Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View and check show hidden files and folders. You can now open the Temp folder from the Documents and Settings folder and delete the files there before you make a new install.
