I've searched on this board for an answer but drawn a blank.
I have a RAW CR2 file named: IMG_5169-Take 01
However when I import it using a script, it gets renamed with an additional SUFFIX of -1 : IMG_5169-Take 01 -1
This is what I get:
I really need the file name to remain: IMG_5169-Take 01 but can't find a control to circumvent the -1 SUFFIX, nor find a plausible reason why it is happening. And frustratingly, when I finally do save the IMG_5169-Take 01, it is also saved as IMG_5169-Take 01 -1 and that is fatal for the next stage of Graphical processing back within my NLE - because the original file - IMG_5169-Take 01 - is now not being recognized.
BTW, JPEG content using the same script is fine. No added -1 suffix is generated and my NLE recognizes the the file - no SUFFIX added.
I'll entertain any thoughts on this.
Best regards
Grazie
Why is the SUFFIX -1 added to a CR2 Filename?

Re: Why is the SUFFIX -1 added to a CR2 Filename?
SOLUTION: I had setup X8 to deal with incoming RAWs with the X8 Internal RAW Editor Tool. Using this added a " -1 " SUFFIX to the original filename, which in my opinion is unacceptable. Why do this? And is there a neat way to make X8 desist from doing this, without necessitating the need to uncheck the Auto Start of the Internal RAW editor?
Re-naming an original file with a -1 SUFFIX - because of the Auto use of an Internal Tool is not sensible in my way of thinking.

Re: Why is the SUFFIX -1 added to a CR2 Filename?
When you open a RAW file and edit in the raw processor, you do not change the raw file nor its name, CR2, NEF, whatever.
When you hand it over to the Edit workspace, PSP adds the -1 to the name in memory, because you can then go back to the raw editor, edit again and hand it over to the Edit workspace with name -2, so you have two differently edited images in the workspace from the same raw file.
When handed over from the raw converter, there is no file type. You determine the file type when you save the image for the first time. Raw files are not changed: any edit you do is saved in PSP's raw database, if you don't uncheck 'save image settings' in the raw editor.
When you open a raw file and bypass the raw editor, PSP applies a standard sort of conversion of the raw data to an image simply because you never edit-change- a raw file.
