Cannot drag and drop files to the Library
I have VideoStudio Ultimate X8 (although I had the same problem in X7.) When I click "browse" and drag a file from the file manager to the library or timeline, I get a small black circle with a diagonal line through the middle. I can't drag and drop any file (picture or video clip) to the library or timeline. The user guide says you can do this and so do tutorials I've watched. I've checked in "settings" to see if this feature has to be enabled and couldn't find anything. The other method, clicking the folder icon, selecting the file and clicking "open," works fine. Thank you for letting me join this forum.

Re: Cannot drag and drop files to the Library
Hi -- and welcome to the forums!
The easiest way to insert media into either the timeline or library window is the one you already found that works: i.e. select either File > Insert Media File; or right click in the timeline or library window and select 'Insert Video/Photo etc'. A Windows window (from File Explorer) opens and you select the clip which then appears in either the timeline or library window.
BUT you can't drag and drop from *that* Windows window. Why would you want to when it's simply a matter of clicking on the clip and it automatically appears in the timeline/library. In other words, using this method, no dragging or dropping is necessary.
But if you absolutely must use File Explorer, then you have to manually open File Explorer from outside Video Studio. The FE window should then appear over VS. Then you can browse to the relevant folder and select the clip, and you should be able to drag and drop it into the timeline or library window.
That certainly works for me. But as I have already suggested, in my humble opinion it requires a bit more work than the easier method we both know works. Instead of just right clicking in the timeline/library and selecting, you have to go to Windows, locate your File Explorer button; if it opens full screen you have to change the size so you can see VS behind it. Then you have to browse to a specific folder to locate the clip; and then you have to drag and drop it, which is a bit more work in its own right than simply clicking on the clip and having it appear in the timeline/library. Don't you agree?

Thank you for your response. Yes your right. It is easier the other way. Thanks again!
