Sorry. I didn't specify.
I suppose to put it on media server and then watch on tv through DLNA.

Sorry - but now your going to have to tell us which formats your TV can accept through DNLA - not all devices accept all formats

As i can found at documentation. Media server recommend use:
1)Container: MP4
Resolution: 1920x1080 or smaller
Video Encoding: H.264 (level 4.0 or lower)
Video Framerate: 30fps
Video Bit Depth: 8
Audio Encoding: AAC
2) Also it support:
MKV container with H.264 video encoding

Re: Export video from miniDV after editing
Why not simply do a test of a short clip at various format to see which looks best.
Generally though, you cannot improve the quality of your captured video. If you captured from standard DV video(720x480), you will not improve quality by going to "HD" formats. In fact the resulting video might even be lower in quality since any "artifacts" may be magnified.

My reason not to improve quality, but save it with smaller file size.

good idea, but make sure you do not make the "various format try-out" clips to short.canuck wrote:Why not simply do a test of a short clip at various format to see which looks best.

With short clips you may not see streaming issues like sound lagging, choppy video as long as the buffering can still cope with short bitrate bursts.
also try to match the source material frame PAL country (25/50) FPS or USA 30/60 FPS when exporting...
