Hi

Thanks for the link., a little large so downloading will take a while.
A smaller file would have been more appropriate.

I assume that it is all video of this type that is causing the problem and not just one individual clip?

Hi

Yes I can confirm that the file does crash not only X9 but X8 and X7.

The file is 2 min 20 seconds using a 168mbps data rate produces a file of 2.8 Gb, that size is ridiculously large, so not surprising as Ken mentioned that the program is struggling

When using Vasco Da gammag you should choose a lower data rate 16 mbps would be more appropriate where one hour of video would be approx 8 Gb

What are you intending to make, a Bluray disc or video for the internet?
I was able to play using Windows Media Player---Interesting video, seems a little jerky after zooming in, various places, first at 30 seconds.
This of course be my pc capabilities.

I guess the holiday was good, just the type of holiday we like, I could have been on that cruise ship.

Hi,
I know the file has a ridiculous bitrate, I am a pretty novice in Vasco, and as far as I recall (it was a few months ago) there were quality options, but not really a specific max bitrate to set, I selected quality "good" which yielded the 2.8 output (main@L4.1), I also wanted to spare you the 6.3 Gb output (same source motion) with quality setting "very good", there the overal bitrate is 370 Mbps, but that seems in (main@L5.2)!

The intend is to insert these kind of trajectories into my holiday video's (shot with Sony RX10, Gopro and Nikon P600 (for real far away wildlife).
As I do not have a means of blue ray disk recording, and I find traditional blue ray standard anyway bit behind todays camera capabilities (4k gopro, XAVC-S) and foremost 1080 50P source material) I am forced to use streaming to my TV from PC. This is in itself a challenge as I additionally add 5.1 sound/music to it. Sufficient bitrate with high quality with (L4.1) 50P + 5.1 sound is not easy to stream as it causes stutter as soon as I select to high bitrate with 5.1 sound on my PC-fixed network-smartTV setup. Rendering in stereo usually does not pose issues. I am contemplating in using some kind of powerful mediacenter (nvidea shield TV) to be on the receiving side. I tried some older WD live media, but that was lousy quality (probably it did some transcoding with quality down conversion).

Using the "streaming" template XAVC-S "MPEG-4" in corel VSX9 would be ideal, but there I cannot select 6 AAC audio channels for 5.1 (see my other tread on this)...

The weather was a bit cold in september 2015 canada, except Vancouver were it was warm, the animals you have seen in the clip we have seen them all grizzly, orca, except moose, go figure. No moose in canada
The polar bears in the clip we have seen on another trip to Spitsbergen, got some good footage of them from the pack ice!

all of those clips have the problem, also the larger ones (6GB) produced with even better quality setting (which I do not see the difference in quality by the way).

Here is a link to the same source clip from vasco, but re-rendered in Sony Vegas 13 with added 5.1 sound effects and music. The resulting size is much smaller (and is in other wrapper) without the insane bitrates.
Still I think VSX9 should be able to swallow it like vegas without crashing. Or there should be some warning /rate/size limitations mentioned in VS.
Maybe this should be reported to Corel as a bug.

Just confirming that the video also crashes my X9 when just trying to import it into either the timeline or library window. However, like Vegas, Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 has no trouble importing and playing it smoothly. It even offered to match the Project Properties to it. Adobe Premiere Elements likewise had no trouble with it, and though there was no offer to match the Project Properties, these nevertheless appeared to match those of the clip.

Cyberlink PowerDirector 13 had to think about importing the clip for some time, but eventually did. It played, but in a stop/start way. Even the humble Ashampoo Movie Studio Pro 2 managed to import the clip, but playback was very erratic.

The only program which showed very similar reluctance to even import the clip was Magix Movie Edit Pro 2015 Plus. It crashed repeatedly.

I can also add that the clip imports (and can be edited) fine in black magic's DaVinci resolve 12.5 (even with offering to matching the project properties to the clip)

Had no difficulty adding the Vasco clip in Roxio Creator NXT4 and playing it.

Bitman, what were your Vasco da Gamma Export settings? I have VdG 9 and would like to export a similar short clip to see if I can duplicate your results.

Hi bitman

I have my Smart TV set up for media streaming although hard wired to my network.
I render to BD quality 1920 x 1080 x 50P / 500i at 1680kbps as that data rate is same as original recorded with Panasonic camcorder.

Your latest sample MTS properties are typical to the ones I use for 50P
I am having problems playing that video, quite poor, stuttering video. The 2Gb file is much smoother?

I have tried with VCL Player and Windows Player, Video Studio also pulsates starting as we fly over Greenland? Hmmmm

Hi Lata,
Not sure why you have choppiness playing it locally, our PC's HW and OS are quite different. I also imported the file in Video studio, but I do not see the pulsating.
The m2ts file (the smaller one I linked with the 5.1 sound) plays smoothly locally on my PC via WMP (I even downloaded my own file to make sure it was not corrupt). But streaming this file from my PC with WMP (casting) via fixed network to my smart TV, that never worked as it should: smooth for a few seconds, but gets choppy while the sound goes on (so the video trails the sound). To make it work smooth for streaming,
I have to re-render to lower the bitrate to 15 Mbps or drop 5.1 to stereo or use 50i.
Being tired of streaming issues, I finally bit the bullet today and bought an external media player, nvidea shield tv (it is a android based, but very powerful hardware capable of 4k60p 10bit color etc ..). At least it can play 1080 50p decently with 5.1 sound on my TV. I plugged an usb stick with the m2ts file and voila smooth as butter, no choppiness. It felt to me it played even better than WMP on my PC.
