The Sony RX10 camera had a new FW upgrade a few months back adding the possibility to film in XAVC-S format.
So I came back with Holliday memories in XAVC-S and although it seems to work fine in import & edit VS X9 ultimate,
and can be exported in the same format, which I want to use for streaming, but here is the problem:
There seem to be no way to enhance this with 5.1 to export in the same format...
I have to render to AVC/H.264 with 5.1 dolby digital (AC3), VS9 does not seem to support XHVC-S output other than with audio AAC stereo only.
Can someone confirm this?
Or have a solution to using 5.1 AAC channels keeping the XHVC-S format.
XAVC-S and 5.1

Re: XAVC-S and 5.1
Hi, And why does it mater to you if you output AVC/H.264 with 5.1 Dolby digital and not XAVC ?

Re: XAVC-S and 5.1
Why I would prefer XAVC-S vs AVCDH, there are many reasons:
Not going into to much technical details, but google & Wikipedia is your friend
But the main reason is that it is always preferred to edit & export (if possible) in the same format as the source material.
The source material is in my case XAVC-S, albeit stereo, which I would like to enhance turning it in 5.1 which seems not possible in VS X9.
I know I cannot use AC3 with XAVCS-S (I believe it is not supported in this standard), but what should be possible is 5.1 channels of AAC (LC).
I know this is possible since I already produced a videofile with MPEG-4 container (.mp4) with 6 channels (=5.1) of AAC trough Sony Vegas 13.
VS x9 does not seem to support this beyond mere stereo AAC.
So maybe to be put on the whish list for X10...
Other benefits of XAVC-S : as it is a newer and improved compression technology developed with 4K in mind, you have better quality video compared to AVCDH if using the same bitrate & quality profile or on the other hand if you are happy with similar quality you can lower the bitrate and have on top a reduced file size, this wil benefit streaming.
Another reason for wanting to use mp4 vs mts is streaming 50p 1080 in 5.1 is difficult for my setup from pc over network to TV:
1) mp4 50p 1080 in 5.1 (AAC) no issues
2) m2ts 50i 1080 in 5.1 (AC3) no issues
3) m2ts 50p 1080 in 5.1 (AC3) choppy ( I have to signifcally lower bitrate in the render options, hence quality to avoid issues)
4) m2ts 50p 1080 in Stereo (AC3) no issues
