Actually just to clarify...
the project loads fine, the video renders fine... at the end of the render, instead of getting the message "operation successful" I get the message "load stream error"... I cannot get off of this page without going to "task manager" to end the program. when I go into the project folder via windows explorer, the file is there, perfectly rendered

what is going on??

I may have solved the problem... or at least I did temporarily??

I think I must have maxed out my working folders?? Is that possible?? I deleted a few data folders within VSX7 and suddenly it started to render fine again?

any one have any thoughts on this?? I didn't think there was a limit and I hadn't added any folders in between the program working and not working??? so then is there a max number of thumbnails allowed within the folders??

again, any insight on this would be appreciated... have one more project left to complete on x7Pro and then it's on to new computer and version 9!

thanks

From your comments it appears the render is completing ok but when trying to add the clip to the library you get that error.
Are you able to add the new video to the library or do you get the same error?
So is your library corrupt in some way?

Check your library for problem clips, clips not linked?

Via Settings - Library Manager Do a backup of the library (Export Library)
Then Settings - Reset the library

Does that help
You can always import the old library

The error happens at the end of the rendering process. Right when the program would automatically add the file to the library. I only know that the render went through because i see it on my drive in the project folder.

I hadnt altered my vs libraries at the time this started to occur. I went fron a successful render to this after adjusting a few elements in the timeline. (Size and mtion of images) and i experimented w rendering previous projects and error still occured.

Only dissappeared after i started to delete some library folders in VS software.

Cant imagine what files could be corrupt.

Also error occurs when VS tries to add the file to library. Program is still running per task manager but there is nothing I can do to un freeze the software. I try to close the error winfow and it keeps bleeping and returns the same error code, so im forced to go to task manager to end it.

Hi Ilene

To close the error message try Alt + F4, although if the program has locked up then that may not work.

The clips in the library are virtual clips linked to your files on the hard drive.
I don't suppose some of those locations are on an external drive that's turned off, that would cause a lot of re-links to the library, maybe corruption the libraries.

It may not be the actual clips that are at fault but their location on the hard drive may have changed?

Did you try Exporting the library, if there is an issue with the library that may not work and give an error.

I don't use the library as a permanent place to store my files, just a temp location, its no problem for me to reset the library and start again.
When I want to use a clip I import from my hard drive.
I know some users use the library as a large store but that has to retain the links.

I don't know if there is a limit on the number of library pages or clips used in the library.

I know the library files are just temp place holders. I do use external drives, but they were all on and functioning. Everything in program was intact. From the time the error started... Literally all i did was adjust some motion on a few inages, fix some coloring, and change a transition....
Wondering if there is a thumbnail max? My temp libraries can be very large. Some are temp/"permanent" in that they link back to folders filled w backgrounds/ overlays/ video clips that ibuse over and over again and aome are more temporary (a specific project im working on)

After deleting a few of these libraries, i can now render normally -- so maybe there is a thumbnail max?

Or

I never use "smart sound" but in reading some posts on this site i did see a reference to the smart sound library. I clicked it on and off... Maybe i had accidentally clicked it "on" before rendering??

For the moment i seem to be fixed? I will call tech support this am anyway -- just to see of there are any "error files" that they can identify

I will also do a back up of my libs, just so i have it. (Alhough they can always be recreated by importing files back in from my hard drive)

Somehow i always stumble on the oddest issues!!

Thanks for the advice guys.
