I read varying posts re: the inclusion of KPT filters in PSP X8. Do they or don't they come with X8 download?
I am using PSP X6 Ultimate and rely VERY heavily on the KPT filters that came with it.
If KPT filters DO come with X8, are they that same ones that are in X6?
(I searched the Web but cannot find a listing of such filters for X8; and the Corel
site doesn't seem to mention them in the advertisement for purchasing X8.)
Do KPT Filters come with PSP X8?

Thank You! I'm going to try to transfer my KPT filters with custom settings to X8; but if it
doesn't work, I'll certainly try that.

You don't have to do anything with your presently installed KPT filters. They are a separate program from PSP. When you install X8 you just have to point it to the location of the existing KPT filters (File>Preferences>File Locations). Installing X8 is NOT going to change any preset settings in your existing KPT filters.cookie1234 wrote:Thank You! I'm going to try to transfer my KPT filters with custom settings to X8; but if it

Note however that if you delete that earlier version of PSP which is associated with those KPT files then they will be removed as well as they are found in the Programs files.
eg in my PSP X4 on Windows XP the location of the KPT Filters is:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Languages\EN\PlugIns\KPT
and my PSP X7 is
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X7\PlugIns\EN\KPT
So if I uninstalled PSP X7 or X4 then I would lose the KPT filters.

Re: Do KPT Filters come with PSP X8?
That's a good point, @hartpaul. I wasn't considering that he might actually uninstall his present x6 version where KPT is already installed. If he doesn't uninstall X6 then he could still point X8 to the plugins folder of X6.hartpaul wrote:Note however that if you delete that earlier version of PSP which is associated with those KPT files then they will be removed as well as they are found in the Programs files.
eg in my PSP X4 on Windows XP the location of the Nik Filters is:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Languages\EN\PlugIns\KPT
and my PSP X7 is
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X7\PlugIns\EN\KPT
So if I uninstalled PSP X7 or X4 then I would lose the KPT filters.
In your case, however, if you uninstalled X4 OR X7 you would only lose the plugins folder from the one you uninstalled and could point a newly installed PSP version to the plugins folder of the one you didn't uninstall. If you uninstall both X4 AND X7 then you would lose access to the plugins.

Re: Do KPT Filters come with PSP X8?
I have found that in general you can copy PSP plugins from one version to another and they will work. So, create a separate folder specifically for PSP plugins and then whenever you install any PSP version, copy its plugins to that folder and then point your plugins file location to that folder. When you delete that PSP version, the copied plugins will not be deleted. And they will work with the newer versions without needing to be reinstalled.hartpaul wrote:Note however that if you delete that earlier version of PSP which is associated with those KPT files then they will be removed as well as they are found in the Programs files.
