Hi,
What's the best method of increasing Brightness & Contrast (B+C) with one touch so that the enhanced image is still in proportion to the original? At the moment, I'm manually increasing B+C one at a time by give the B a certain +value and then the C a certain +value.
For example, the problem is when B needs to be +20, the C could fall in between +12 to +18. This proportion has to be then replicated when the next clip which might only need B at +10 and so it's a balancing act for what the C should be.
The Auto-exposure filter is not suitable.
There may not be a solution therefore add it to the wishlist.
Phil

Hi Phil
The Brightness and Contrast filter is manual set, I guess you want both options a manual approach and auto.
Changing the B & C to auto is only gonna create another auto exposure filter.
Have you tried Auto Levels, you can also add more than one filter, as far as I know 5 can be added.

Thanks Lata. The Auto level filter can have varying effects and results. I'm looking for a feature that when exposure/brightness is increased, contrast comes along with it.

I'm sorry Phil, I don't follow your need.
" when B needs to be +20, the C could fall in between +12 to +18. This proportion has to be then replicated when the next clip which might only need B at +10 "
Who say so? Is this is the "House" rule?

Re: Increase brightness & contrast simultaneously
Hi Asik1,
Increasing brightness alone weakens the blacks. When contrast is then pulled up (usually a guess using eyesight because there are no measuring tools), the balance is restored.
Hence my query. If a scene I have filmed is under exposed, what one tool, if any, can be used that does the brightness & contrast together for me?
Not every scene will need an exposure adjustment but some need more than others and it would be great not to adjust 2 x parameters at a time but just the 1.

Re: Increase brightness & contrast simultaneously
Maybe NewBlueFX Auto Contrast from Essentials 3 could be applied. My VS has also another FX called Brightness and Contrast.
