Unable to install Paintshop Pro X8 Windows 10

Post by Proteau2112 »

I'm unable to install Paintshop Pro X8 running Windows 10 due to IE11 blocking active x scripts. Yes, I've tried the obvious stuff in IE11, changing the various permissions, disabling I.E., etc, etc. But nothing works. Before I go beg for a refund for OPENED software, I thought I'd give this board a try.
Ideas??

Can't you configure IE11 to stop blocking?
I personally do not use IE, only FireFox and never have any issues with installations. I'm not sure why your IE is causing an installation problem anyway.

When something wants to use ActiveX scripts my IE11 pops up a bar at the bottom of my monitor informing me of that and asking if I want to allow the script to run. Don't you get that option?

Yes, I've allowed the script to run, however the remaining dialog box does not allow editing. However, I downloaded the evaluation copy of this product -this program installed, and with my CD key was able to activate it. So my problem solved. The original problem though...remains.

What do you mean by "the original problem remains"? Do you mean the problem with not being able to install from the disc version you purchased? If that's the case, you should be able to get a replacement disc from Corel. But an even better option is to simply copy the downloaded file to your own disc and write the key on that disc so that if you have to uninstall and reinstall you'll have an installation file that works.

What do you mean by "the original problem remains" :

1) The CD version will not install on my install Win 10 (may affect others)
2) The downloadable full version will not install either (may affect others)

The evaluation or Trial version of PSP is the same program as whatever you call the downloadable full version with all of the same tools. One is just time limited, and the key removes that limitation. So I'm still not sure what the situation is.

@Proteau2112

Do you have a CD version with Setup.exe or only a download version copied onto a CD (what we do with the backup disk when customers order a download version with backup disk)?

Can you please contact our support and we will look into it.

For me the problem is solved by entering my DVD digital key into the downloadable evaluation copy which installed. Everything is working.

My original Dvd box software was bought from Staples, and yes it had the standard "install.exe" file within it. Interestingly, the two other programs bundled on the DVD, "Perfecteffects" and "Aftershot" installed normally. I'm not sure why IE11 continues to block this script, even when IE11 is deactivated the scripted is blocked. The IT dept running this computer refuses to support corel products due to issues like these.

I suggest the UK Corel support email the US or Can support. No need for me to be involved for what looks like a remaining Corel compatibility issue with Win10.
