Audio Fade not working Video Studio X8

Post by Daza 1965 »

Hi, I am new to the board and was wondering if anyone can help.

I have made a few videos and one thing has been bothering me. When I render my videos with an audio overlap, I have no problem getting a fade at MPEG 4, 4K 25FPS at 40MBps.

When I render the video at MPEG 4, 4K 50FPS at 65Mbps the audio wont fade and stops abrubptly. I prefer the videos at 50 Fps as it looks better.

Any ideas why anybody?

Thanks.

Darrell.

Hi Darrell

And welcome to the forums….
seems your post has been overlooked so sorry for the slow response

My first thoughts are whether your project properties are set to 50fps (50P)

If they are set to 25 fps than that may affect the way the project is rendered.
You may be best to set the properties to same as your output properties?

You do not say what the properties of your original video files are, if using 25 fps I would not have thought converting to 50P would improve quality as the program would simply duplicate each frame.

Hi Trevor

Thanks for replying.

I have been using a Panasonic HC-V520 Camcorder set at 'ALLAVCHD' I managed about a year ago to work out how to get the raw files onto my Computer. I then put them into Corel and have been making my own home vids for about a year on and off. I am delighted with the quality of these files when watched on my 49'' 4K TV.

I render them on Corel at '3840 x 2160 50p 65 MBS. I also do a copy at 3840 x 2160 25P 40mbs (I am assuming the 25p is 25FPS?). Then transfer them onto separate external Hard drives where I can play them on my smart telly.

I can definitely see a difference in the quality, mainly when the footage is panning around.

Can you offer any tips on anything I might be doing wrong above?

Thanks for the advice. I went into Project Properties on Corel. Then went into properties Format. I selected 'Online' but this did not give me a 50P option. I then went into 'Edit' and changed it to 50P. This now gives me a fade that is more gradual right at the end of the audio track.

I don't seem to get a long gradual fade, it comes in very close to the end. Can I alter this?

Thanks for your help.

Darrell

Hi Darrell

Two things

Change the Audio default duration, default setting is 1 sec, go to Settings Preferences (F6) Edit tab
Set any other durations you feel appropriate.
Tick Show Messages, should help to match project properties when inserting the first clip to a new project.

You can also access Sound Mixer to drag the audio ramps to reset lengths.

Second
You mention rendering to '3840 x 2160 50p 65 MBS, I assume that to be Mpeg4?
Do you have any problems in rendering files over 10 minutes or 4 Gb size
Please read this post, maybe you can help, I will try using X8 to test this.

Hi Darrell

It was over 4 Gb sizes, over 10 minutes projects that are causing problems, were your Mpeg4 files over 4 Gb

and yes they take a while to render.
