Hi Andre
I have also tested X8 and get the same error messages.
Have you had a reply from Corel?

I want to create a 10 min XAVC-S UHD novie in Corel VSX9 (output setting: XAVC-S 3840x2160 25p @65Mbps). Did not work...all went well untill the end of the render process (99%) where I got the "file format mismatch" prompt, A file was created with rhe expected (>4GB)size but does not play.
My UHD clips come from a Sony FDRAX33 UHD camcorder @100Mbps framerate setting
I found out that when the total rendered filesize is below 4 GB all goess fine. The original clip are stored om an NTSF formatted disk as well as the target disk is NTFS. The same problem happens with HD originals when trying tp get an UHD XAVC-S output larger than 4GB (~9 min @65 Mbps).
There is also a thread in the Corel User to User forum where the problem has been confirmed . See http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59251

Re: 4GB filesize limit with XAVC-S
I don't think your source file or its size has anything to to with the 4GB limit when creating the "Xavs" file. I did a quick test by creating 2 Xavs files (with the properties that erdna showed in his first post". As a source I used a simple mp4 file that was about 4 minutes long. I added that file 3 times and then trimmed it back so that it was just a bit over 10 minutes long. When rendered it created a 4.08 GB file that will not play with any player. In fact MediaInfo is not even able to determine the properties. I then used the same setup and trimmed it to be under 10 minutes. The rendered Xavs file was now around 3.9GB and played fine in all video players and BS also accepted it.

I was interested to know if original video over 4 Gb ran ok, and that the problem was only with video rendered with Video Studio.
I assume it is the way Video Studio is rendering that's causing the problem.
For me rendering is very, very slow, maybe my pc but also suspect VS is struggling with this format.
Like you MediaInfo does not read the file correctly, windows shows the icon as audio type when I would expect a video type.
Certainly needs Corel to look into this issue.

Re: 4GB filesize limit with XAVC-S
Since its always run smoothly till the 99% checkpoint , I believe it's a matter of finalizing the file to conform with the Xavc profile itself and not the video rendering per se.

Hi Trevor,
Same story with an original 6GB file; "File format mismatch" and a useles ~6GB XAVC output file.(the original 6GB file imports OK)
Got an answer from Corel...general and worthless. See hereunder with my reply

There is not a single corrupted clip involved (all verified). More people tested and confirmed this issue. Plse see the User to User forum link I gave below and/or test it yourself. Point is that VSX9 (and X8) cannot create XAVC-S video’s that are larger than 4GB

Andre Declercq,
Thank you for contacting Corel Technical Support.
We appreciate your time in letting us know your status with your product and we understand where you are coming from. As I am reviewing your concern, I would like to inform you that there might be a corrupted video clip in your project that causes failure to import, edit, render or burn.
What I would like to suggest is for you to do a test render for each video clip that you have used in your project. This is to determine which video clip is corrupted. Then just delete that particular clip or if you need it, convert that video clip into another format or re-convert it to the same format to fix it.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.
Regards,
Kaz

Re: 4GB filesize limit with XAVC-S
Hi Andre
Thanks for the update, If your original file at 6 Gb is causing problems then its VS not reading the files correctly, so maybe not just the render issue but any 4K greater than 4 Gb.
I can understand Corel suggesting there may be a corrupt file, but the quickest option for them is to try to replicate the problem, and that is easily done.
They could use any clips provided the project is over 10 minutes would exceed 4 Gb and would fail.
That’s assuming there support have the capability or ability of testing 4K files.
Unfortunately I doubt that support will read this topic.

Re: 4GB filesize limit with XAVC-S
Trevor, Andre write that the 6GB file was loaded OK to X9.
Don't blame the poor Corel guy, he works with a help line error flow chart diagram. I don't see this as a difficult thing to mend, SP4 might do it.
( I shoot in the dark trying to correct my 4.7GB file , but it didn't work...)

Hi Trevor and asik,
I think I already mentioned it, but HD files (1920x1080) on the rimeline give the same results when rendered as XAVC-S

Re: 4GB filesize limit with XAVC-S
Because it has nothing to do with the input files , I believe if you will render 1 JPG file to 10min XAVC-s you will get same bad output.erdna wrote:Hi Trevor and asik,

If you bored for few minutes you can see VLC error report trying to play the file
(I'm far of being an expert but I think the problem lay in the "no moov box" and EOF in these >4GB files )

Re: 4GB filesize limit with XAVC-S
The log seems to tell us that several steps go wrong, but I think that we would rather need the XAVC encoder source code to get closer to the problem.
I also tested a 10 mn extented jpeg rendered @65Mbps XAVC and again "File format mismatch" at 99%. And btw (and totally off topic), I would not advise X8/9 for jpeg work in UHD (e.g. UHD slideshow ). As you may recall I reported seversl months ago that there is a resolution issue. In the link hereunder I compared 2 (Corel X8 and Somy) UHD 1:1 pixel mapped crops from UHD video's made from jpeg's (ISO test pattern)

Re: 4GB filesize limit with XAVC-S
Hi Asik
Andre confirmed earlier that an original video direct from camera at 6 Gb causes the same error when importing to library.
So clearly it is not just the rendering but the way these files are read.
Asik I don’t blame the Corel guy but Corel for not giving him the correct tools to test this problem.
Corel need to try to replicate the problem, Andre already provided a link to his post on the forum, so why do Corel recommend he asks here? Clearly Corel Support has not visited or read this post.
SP4 wont do anything unless Corel can replicate the problem, and that wont happen till the issue is escalated to their engineering depot.

Hi Trevor,
You wrote: " Andre confirmed earlier that an original video direct from camera at 6 Gb causes the same error when importing to library.
I think I reported that my origina 6GB clip imported OK. So I got the original clip to the library and to the timeline, but the rendering went wrong again at 99%.
