Toolbar Customization

ToolBars and Command Customization

I cannot seem to find the answer I am looking for. I can make a new toolbar and add commands but I cannot seem to group the cmds to make them do a flyout. Like when you go to the tools menu and choose the selection tools. I would like to make alignment tools into a fly out to limit the space that gets taken up.

Also while we are here how do you customize a new menu or dialogue box?

Thanks in advance for all advise on this topic

Normally you would drag a button group from the Commands tab over to your toolbar. Pretty easy. Open Customize, under the commands tab in the categories list you'll see a "New Button Group" option. Select that and a "Button group" command will show up in the command list. Drag that onto a toolbar to add a button group. You can then drag any commands directly onto the button group to add options to it.

Now, in my copy of PSPX8 there seem to be an odd bug where the button group doesn't properly update with the command icon. If you experience the same thing, there is a simple workaround.

Open Customize, then Ctrl + Click and Drag a button group from the tools toolbar onto your own toolbar. Holding Ctrl while dragging the button group will create a copy of the button group for you to use. You can then add and delete options from this button group to customize it as you see fit. For me, this works perfectly.

Yes I see that little glitch. That is why I was having the trouble the menu group and button group does not do anything. I am going to try the drag fix now.

Alright I did what you said but none of the Icons show up only the text description. I tried copying the icon image and get an error message.

I also seem to have a problem with a regular toolbar. If I put some commands in a toolbar they remain greyed out. Even when I have a selection. For instance rotate. I have to figure this out since I really like to work certain tasks with custom toolbars.
