Drawing a line

Post by jimbir »

Is there a way to draw a thick, 10 pts. or more, line with rounded ends?

Yes, with the pen tool.

When you say 10pts do you mean font points like 1/72 of an inch? Or just 10 pixels? The thickness of the line is set in the stroke width setting on the tool options palette. However, these are always in pixels which is why I asked.

To get a rounded end on the vector you need to use the line styles. On the tool options palette you'll see an option for "line style" click this to open up all of the currently pre-made line style options and the click the "Custom" button at the bottom. What you're looking to do is change the end caps to something more rounded.

Use the pen tool. You can select the line style and width. I think there may not be a line with rounded ends but you can then create a custom line style.

Edit - LeviFiction beat me to it - didn't see his response before posting.

Thanks. I should have specified pixels. I got the one I wanted but, in the process, I created and saved one that's no good. The help file says you can delete a line by selecting it but, doesn't say what to do next and it's not obvious.

If you saved it as a preset and want to delete it, click on the down arrow on the preset box and then click on the resource manager. You can select the preset here and then click the delete button.

Note: the resource manager is not labeled but it you mouse over the icons their names will be displayed.
