canuck wrote:You are wrong on several points.

VS X5 is not a 64K program (as far as I know) and 64K programs are installed in the \Program files folder while 32K programs are installed in the \Program Files (86) folder.
You are correct that each program also has other folders where files are stored. But you can often tell which is a X5 and which is the X9 related folder. X5 is identified by a 15.0 folder while X9 is identified by a 19.0 folder. In one of your images that you posted you showed a 19.0 folder inside a 15.0 folder which is incorrect and looks like it was done manually.

VS X9 Ultimate consists of 3 separate installs when done manually. 1) the main program, 2)the contents and 3) the Bonus features (which contains the extras such as the NewBlue Effect, Mercali, Boris Grafitti.) If X9 were stalled correct you would have all the samples etc that you had with X5 if not many more.

Like Brian says a complete uninstall of X9 and reinstall (of all 3 parts) should soleve your problem
1. The 3-step install is exactly what the technician did on my system, remotely. I watched him do it. However, I never noticed him installing the Bonus features package. If he did or didn't, I don't have all those bonus files in X9.
** I did have them last week before he 'fixed' everything.
2. Uninstalling then reinstalling X9 (for the 4th time) is more than my nerves (and my old hard drive) can handle. I'm just going to have to leave things as they are. At least, finally, X9 and X5 both boot-up and run. Now, I am going to begin learning how to use some of the new features in X9. I've already found a couple of things which may be errors or else things I just don't understand (yet).

Thank you, both, for all your help.

Obviously you missed the fact that he did not install the Bonus feature, otherwise they would be there. Why don't you install them yourself?

I already posted about that issue in this topic thread.
Old_Friend wrote:** That reminds now to ask if there was a separate stand-alone new (Bonus "Samples") package included with the purchase of VS-X9 Ultimate? I think I remember seeing it offered somewhere but, I can no longer find it. Having that just might solve my problem with having no more than 4 or 5 samples in VS-X9. VS-X5 has hundreds of many types!
Just before I logged on this forum right now, I spent an hour searching all over my hard drive looking for that particular package. I never found it.

Did you search for a folder called "Bonus Feature" which contains the setup file "setup_Bonus.exe"?

If you can't find that file/folder then you don't have the full X9 Ultimate package.

I think Old Friend might be referring to the NewBlue Film Effects filters which was offered as an extra sweetener withe the special $14.95 Ultimate offer. If so they would appear in the FX library window with each of the five or six filters preceded by the word "Film".

Hi canuk,
Thanks for the suggestion but, I'm pretty sure that you're correct; I don't have the full X9 package or at least, ALL of the Bonus Packages.
Attached is a screen shot of all the Installation files under the Desktop. None of those contain the folder I had hoped to find. Oh, well.

Hi Ken,
I looked in there already but, I'll look through it again. It's possible I didn't see it. If I do find it, I'll be surprised if that is actually where it should be located. It seems to me that the new VS-X9 "Bonus Sample" package would have been offered by Corel --not NewBlue. I'll certainly let you know if I got lucky. heh heh.

Hi Ken,

I looked through all the folders that NewBlue Film FX installed. It looks like this attached image.

Moreover, they are not found in the Samples folder. As I said, they are filters, so are found in the vft_plug sub-folder: C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9\vft_plug All the relevant filters start with NewBlueFilm...

I don't understand what you are looking for but you have everything needed to get the full Ultimate install including the full Bonus package.

To see if the Bonus package was installed do a search of your system for files beginning with "NBVideoEssentials"They should be found in "C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9\vft_plug" as Ken has posted.
If they are not there then the Bonus package was not installed and you have to run the Setup_Bonus.exe which you show in your install package.

I thought I have been quite clear about what I have been looking for and that is an installation package named "X9 Bonus Samples" (or, something like that) -- if it exists. I'm not looking for anything related to NBFX, etc. The issue with NBFX has been resolved.

When I compare what I see in my X9 "Samples" folder (inside the program) to what I see in my X5 "Samples" folder and also what I see in Gripps' "Samples" folder, they don't match. My X9 "Samples" folder contains only 4 or 5 video and jpg files. During one of my earlier installations of X9 (which I did myself), that Samples folder was filled with stuff just like my X5 and Gripps' folders show now.
After using the "reset" option, as was suggested to me, now I cannot find any way to reinstall all of those samples again. I can't find any "X9 Bonus Samples" install package. That's it.

Do any of you have a "Bonus Samples" install package listed for X9 in your Desktop "VideoStudioX9 folder, or anywhere else on your system?

In a previous post Old_Friend you told us that in the folder on your desktop was a folder called "Bonus Feature" - the 'setup_bonus.exe' file is in there

Hi

You seem to be showing the installation files for CVSX9 Ultimate

From the Standard Contents folder there should be a “setup_Chd.exe” file
Double clicking this should install the additional library content to complete the installation.

To install the Ultimate package go to X64 folder – Bonus Feature – double click Setup_Bonus.exe

You keep on confusing the install folder (which you show in your post) and the folders after the install. The folders after the install are found in the "C:\program files" folder. There is no such thing a "X9 Bonus Samples" as you have been told several times.

Also don't compare the X5 folders to X9 - they may well have changed quite a bit.
