How to make spill effect for the photo with photoimpact x3?

Hi,

It means oil spill in a sea or water (which are mixed in water). you can view the pics below

I think this is beyond the scope of PI. It was only a basic software but quite good in its day.

A couple of years late but
1) Open and copy a plain water texture so that you have the background water image and a copy of itself as an object on top
2) Use Effect > Fills and Textures > Kaleidoscope Fill and choose a swirly one
3) Usse Effect > Distort > Whirlpool to distort it and make it even more swirly
4) and then Open the layer manager and Change the way in which the distored object is layered to Hue or Saturation Only as below (or double the latyers and add a bit of both with a lot of transparency)
5) Use the distort took to make the whirlpool a lot bigger at the top in the background than it is in the foreground (i.e. a trapezium with a small base and large top)
then you can get something approaching a "spill"
