INSTALLATION PROBLEM

Post by Viddynick »

Hi everyone - long time since I've been around here. Due to serious ill health, I am only dabbling at all this now unfortunately. When I came to use VSX7 after almost 18 months of inacitivity I found it to be corrupted in some way. Solution was for me to purchase Pro VSX8 - I did not pch later products as not sure my pc would be up to it! I am on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Came to install X8 this pm and it tell me my system has not been modified and cancels itself! Any ideas please? ProX7 was running well on it before it went wrong - pc is well maintained and all software up to date including Quicktime etc. No viruses or spies - checked with good security products last night. Any help appreciated. To tell me not modified is no help whatsoever! Thanks anyone who cares to respond. Cheers, Viddynick.

Hi Viddynick

Can you confirm that CVSX8 did actually install, you seem to indicate that the program has not installed?
Go to C:\Program Files\Corel
There should be a folder indicating X8, you should also have an icon on the desktop.
Corel VideoStudio--Pro or Ultimate X8

There was a windows update that affected the launch of video studio.
Go here for details of hot fixes provided by Corel

Download and install Corel Video Studio X8 Hot Fix2

Does the program run.

or as X8 is not installed maybe you should download the "Videostudio X7 hotfix 1" and ask for your money back for X8

Hi everyone - thanks for your responses and suggestions. My problem is that the programme itself will not install. It gets as far as installing Microsoft Framework ......etc. then DirectX .............then tells me my system has not been modified and the installation wizard closes!

I am now thinking the hotfix you speak of would have correct my earlier version X7.

Someone queried what version I had: Reading from the DVD it says Corel VideoStudio Pro X8. Pch it brand new via Amazon.

Thanks for your help on this - any more suggestions would be most useful.

Cheers,
Nick (Viddynick).

If you did not un-install X7 (it is NOT affected by the install of X8) then you should be able to download and install the X7 hotfix and get yourself a working copy of X7

Can you tell us what exactly happens during the install of X8 at the direct-X point - does it just stop and close - or do you get an error message which says something along the lines "The installed version of Direct-X is newer etc . . . "

Thank you for your response. I actually uninstalled X7 feeling it was totally corrupted in some way and I was unable to open it. Thought I would have a fresh start!
The Installation Wizard continues after the DirectX etc. and then suddenly tells me my system is not modified and so the installation cannot continue.
This is a brand new DVD - I was able to open the files on the disk without problem and started the installation from there.

Thanks
Nick.

Instead of just putting the DVD in your drive and installing can you immediately cancel any attempts to install - then in your File Explorer open the DVD and locate the setup.exe file - then RIGHT click on it and choose "Run as Administrator"

Hi, have just tried again - running as Administrator and same problem occurs. "Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation at another time please run setup.exe again and click Finish to exit"! Just underneath there's a -9 and nothing else. Have decided to put a ticket into Corel, which has been acknowledged and hopefully they will come back to me within next 24 hrs. Thanks for your suggestions - grateful.
