Paint Shop Pro will not open twice on same day
I use PSP X2 on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I have a problem if I try and open the program again, if I have used it once and closed it down, on the same day. I have tried opening it as Administrator and also directly from the file location, but nothing happens. Has anybody any idea how to fix it?

If you open Windows Task Manager after you have first closed down PSP, you will probably find, under (Background) Processes that an element of it is still running. Right click that and choose End Task. After that, you should be able to restart PSP. This occasionally happens to me to, as well as to others, though I personally have no idea what causes it.

Thanks for that Ken. I will have a try next time it does it, which probably won't be that long.

Sometimes I have to click to open PSP more than once. I'm sure it goes off for a cup of coffee every now and again.
If it fails to open, wait a few seconds and click the icon again to open it.
I wonder if PSP has actually opened but simply hasn't appeared.
regards

Hi brucet. I have tried opening it a few times, but nothing happens. I have a spare few moments now, so I will try what Ken Berry suggested and see if that cures the prob'.

Re: Paint Shop Pro will not open twice on same day
I have had some programs not appear to start and I blame it on the computer system getting lost somewhere. Bit like clicking on a shortcut to a web site and it gets lost on the internet. In that case I close and reclick and it starts OK.
In the case of programs, make Task manager your friend and go to it and make sure that your program is closed properly.
I have had this happen with Firefox and Outlook where extra clicking started a new opening which delayed the first opening process. Then when I used task manager to close the program and any extra instances it restarted correctly on the next attempt.
One problem in later versions of PSP is that under manage mode PSP can continue indexing files before it closes down and if you have folders with large numbers of files this can take some time.
Is it possible that if this is interrupted it has to restart the database or it gets corrupted.
I have turned off that in Preferences and also mostly (99.9%) use Edit mode.
