VS9 Error Message

Post by gordon_fan_24 »

I know this has been adressed before, but after a search, I cant find it.

After about 5-10 mins of editing my video, I get an error message that reads

Runtime Error
Abnormal Program Termination

I have been doing the same type of editing on VS9 regularly, since it was released in April without any problems until today.

Video File Properties
MPEG-2, Upper field first
29.970 fps, NTSC, 8999kbps

CPU Specs
Dell 8400 3.4Ghz, 512mb RAM, about 80GB free HD

What can I do to fix this?

Try closing programs in the background such as antispyware, antivirus, etc. There could be also other programs running while your editing that conflicts with your videostudio. Try closing these applications too. Also, try to clear your windows/temp folder then restart your computer. ^_^

Yeah, and defragging your HDD while you are at it would also help, after you deleted some useless stuff that is.
What capture card do you use?

I use the ADS DVD Xpress, but the video is already captured prior to entering VS to edit, I capture in the Capwiz program, then import to VS, also the video is on an external 120Gb hard drive, but it has been that way for months, why would the problem pop up now, I'll try defragmenting in the next day or so, when I have time.

ok, now the problem continues to get worse, After about 3 mins of editing the same video, I no longer get the message, but whenever I click play on the preview window, the computer completely freezes, again, I have been doing the same thing every week for many months with no changes to my procedure, why would it happen now, and not at the first install?

Have you tried a different piece of footage. Your source file may be corrupted.
