Can't add MP4 video files to Corel Video Studio Pro x7

I am trying to add MP4 files to the library, it says file format mismatch. Not clear, why?
MP4s are created by doing Google Hangouts that are automatally are uploaded to Youtube. then i download them from there, then add to Corel... Exactly as I always did.
I have been doing this for years, never a problem.
Now, today I used HotFix program to fix Corel as it wouldn't start... It starts now, but can't add the files...

What to do?

What's the specification of the MP4 video? Note that MP4 is just a container or wrapper contains various codecs and other data. Perhaps the codec is not recognized. Do you have any other MP4 files? Same problem?

Before adding the mp4 file to the timeline, set the Project Properties to be exactly like the properties of the mp4 file you are adding to see if that works. If that does not work, post all the details about the mp4 file properties to see if anyone can help

Actually I have same problem before but I couldn't solve it for a long time, my corel only supports avi format, not mp4 or others, I used to change mp4 to mkv, but didn't worked out.

There were some problems with several Mov and Mp4 video files, Corel did provide a few fixes by replacing a file (ulmp4lib.dll)

I had thought that the latest release was included in the X7 service packs.

Download this file and replace your original, does that help, if no revert to the original file.

Where do I get properties of the file from? Where to set-up properties of the project?

File Properties: Right-click on timeline video entry and select properties.

Project properties: Settings->Project Properties

What's the timeline video entry??? I never heard of a "timeline video entry" in video studio. I'm trying to understand this too but the instructions seem to be for some other program.

"timeline video entry": It's not a term of art. I can't say that I have heard this term used before either. But I know what aljimenez means -- to get the properties of a video clip already inserted into the timeline (i.e. "timeline video entry" or video clip entered into the timeline), right click on it and select Properties. You can also do this to the thumbnail of a video clip which is in the library window above the timeline. I guess aljimenez might call that a "library video entry"!!

Quicktime may be required to edit / play some Mov and MP4 video types.
Do you have Quicktime installed?

I cannot load MP4 files that were made from my Kindle Fire any more. I've been doing it for ages on my Windows7 but no longer with Windows 10.
I get the dreaded "Invalid Parameter" message and VS is hung.

Yes. I do have QuickTime installed, with all its vulnerabilities.
Also, I did hijack (sorry) this thread, in that I am using version 9 of VSP.

You did not say if you tried replacing the file (ulmp4lib.dll) from the earlier post.
If that does not work I do not know what else to suggest, CVSX7 is a few years old with Windows 10 may have problems.

I assume you have also applied all Service Patches to X7.

your last option is to convert the files to a more editable format using a Video Converter?
