Plugins not working in Windows 7

Post by littleturtle »

I just downgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 7, doing a clean install. After re-installing my PSP X2 along with some of the tubes and plugins I found that my plugins show up, but when trying to use them, I get a message that says: "Unable to load the requested plugin filter. The plugin may not be installed properly or may be missing files." I used to have to place 6 dlls in the Windows System 32 folder in order for PSP plugins to work. I have done that, but it did not help. I have shown PSP where the plugins are located, and don't know what else to do. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Depending on the plug in, sometimes you can install in the PSP program folder- I had to do this to get Nik plugin to work.
Go to Program Files (x86) Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, Languages, English, then Plugin folder and paste your plugins there.
Also make sure the plugins you are working with are 32 bit not 64 bit.

Is this a problem with all plugins or just some of them?

Yes, this is true for all plugins that I have tried. I tried your suggestion rondo, with no success.
Since my Windows is 64 bit, I'm thinking that maybe I need to also have Paint Shop Pro X2 in 64 bit....
Not sure that it is, and have posed that question as another topic and separate question..

If you installed the plugins properly (i.e., using the plugin's install routine) and if they worked with X2 on Windows 10 then they should work on Windows 7. If you only copied and pasted them from another backup drive then that will usually cause issues except with some older plugins that don't have or need an install routine and then the 8bf files can just be moved wherever you want them. So, assuming a proper and complete installation of X2 and the plugins, if they show up in the Effects>Plugins menu then at the moment I cannot at this time think of what might be missing.
