Hello,
since quite a while I think this already happened with 2.2 I experience two different AfterShot problems:
1. When generating many jpgs from my Nikon D7100 raw files I see different kind of bugs. One is that after say generating 100 jpgs suddenly ASP uses 100% CPU but no more jpgs are created. The second variant is that ASP stops using CPU but again no more jpgs are created. The last variant is that ASP completely crashes suddenly, the window disappears. Most often variant 1 (100%CPU) happens.
This only happens when I batch create say 500 photos. If ASP hangs at some photo, I stop and restart ASP and then only process the single one photo where ASP hung before it works just fine. So it looks like that this bug is related to a missing internal "cleanup" between processing two raws in some way.
OpenCL is disabled the Performance settings are 4,4,1, CPU 4, IO: 4, simultaneous processing 1 photo at a time. The system is core i5 8GB RAM and a Linux OpenSuSE 42.1. The same happens on my second system a Core Duo 8GB RAM with OpenSuSE 13.2 and the settings (2,1,1) and no OpenCL.
2. When looking at a raw at 100% and then switching to the next raw, keeping the zoom at 100%, sometimes ASP crashes, the window disappears. When zooming is at "fit to window" this does never happen. I only observed it with my Nikon D7100 raw files not with earlier D80 raws. Sometimes I think this problem might also depend on the situation where ASP is still calculating the new display after a small change eg. in sharpening and changing to the next photo during processing leads to the crash. But I am not really sure.
Does anyone else experience similar problems? Especially bug 1 is quite annoying since you cannot start generation many jpgs and go away to avoid waiting, since very often it will not finish all photos.
Thanks
Rainer

Re: Aftershot 2.4 crashes on linux
Yes I know!
I have similar problems with 2.4 on linux (did not try on WIN)
I therefore sometimes use 2.1.2.10 to render the pictures. ASP 2.4. has a better GUI - but 2.1 is more stable.
It does not need much pictures - I have problems sometimes with 20 or 50 picture.
I have a Nikon D7000 and P6000 and P330 (P330 unfortunately not really supported ...). I don't exactly know if it only happens with D7000 - but I think I have had problems with the P6000 too.
So I can confirm - problem 1. and problem 2.
(Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS \n \l Kernel: Linux version 3.13.0-83-generic (buildd@lgw01-55) (gcc version 4.8.2 (Ubuntu 4.8.2-19ubuntu1)))
Sometimes with open CL on sometimes with open CL off does not seem to mater)
I would recommend to use ASP 2.1 to generate jpgs ...
Surely hoping a new version will have fewer problems and support the P330 ...

Re: Aftershot 2.4 crashes on linux
Good to hear that I'm not the only one
For bug 1 in at least one case I found out that zPerspector seems to be part of the problem. I took about 100 photos and in this case processing hangs with 100% CPU at photo 96, lets call it "photo of death". If I only run a batch with say 20 photos including the "photo of death" everything works fine. Converting only the "photo of death" to jpg also works fine.
However when I batch process the 100 photos just as described at the start and I have deactivated zPerspector for the "photo of death" with position 96 then everything works.
So it seems that plugins like zPerspector might be part of this problem but ASP also seems to be a part, else the hang bug should be more deterministic also occurring when I just convert the one "photo of death" or 20 photos including the "photo of death" but it doesn’t.
So I guess its a combined problem of ASP and eg zPerspector.
What about your experiences with bug 1. Did you turn on a plugin for the photo where ASP finally hangs?
Thanks
Rainer
