VideoStudio Ultimate X9 upgrade offer

Have been useing VS6 for basic dvd authoring, (also have VS8 )
Get popup offers to upgrade when starting and shutting down at times .
Well yesterday got this popup to upgrade to VideoStudio Ultimate X9 for $14.95 U.S. and I was wondering what's going on?
includes the NewBlue - Film Effects Effects Plugin free.
I did go for the upgrade offer! and was wondering the following-
Is new version do to come out soon? Is corel going to file for bankrupcy? Or did I get suckered somehow ?

I suspect that buried in the small print somewhere you will find that it means the upgrade from X9 Pro to X9 Ultimate. In other words, it is for people who have already bought X9 in its basic form, then decided they would like the extras that come with the Ultimate version.

I am 99% sure that you will not get X9 at the price if you don't already have it.

And to answer one of your other questions, no -- X9 is the latest version and was only released a few weeks ago. The next version is unlikely to appear for another 11 months or so.

I'm running VS Pro X4 on Win 7 and received that offer yesterday to upgrade for $14.95. I bought it and installed it. Seems to work. I still have VS Pro X4 running as well as the VS Ultimate X9. My guess for this offer happening is that Corel has received a lot of heat from its users who have previous versions of Video Studio Pro not working because of Microsoft recent security patches (...87, ...93). Corel has chosen not to make 'hot fixes for earlier versions (X4 - X6, I think) and to mollify the criticism and outrage have chosen to get their broken VS users to upgrade to 9 Ultimate at a hard to resist price.
So now, with VS 9 Ultimate running on my machine I can now install those nasty security patches that I uninstalled to keep VS Pro X4 running, and not have to feel that I've got hacker holes in my system. Cute move on Corel's part.

I've read your comment,about the upgrade offer and did not previously make any purchase since VS8 !
I would think that an upgrade from VS 9 Pro too VS 9 Ultimate would cost more than $14.95 ?
Must have been some kind of Upgrade promotion error, I was surprised I never jump in
and buy new VS versions so soon because of the bugs.

Although I already have VS X9 Ultimate installed at the original purchase price... However, I ran VS X5 and when I closed the software, I was offered a upgrade to VS X9 Ultimate at 85% off or $14.99. Checked it out, and this is legit... If I could get my money back, I would love to be able to repurchase the software for $14.99... Good Luck Guys...

I'm about to pay for & download my £11.99 upgrade to X9 from X5. Am I wasting my time because I'm still an XP user, or am I on to a good thing anyway.

I paid & downloaded - then I clicked on .exe. Oh dear - not valid Win32 application. It's a good thing I have a Win10 laptop. I'm copying it over to that. Fingers crossed or I've just wasted £11.99!

You should be able to download the 32 bit version, I would have thought the Web Installer should have recognised your pc and provided the correct files.

Thank you for the responses. Asik1 kindly replied to my query - and no, X9 won't run on XP! Others be warned. Still X9 Ultimate for 12 quid has to be a bargain. I can use it on the laptop & keep it for when I'm finally forced to buy a new desktop!

I too took the Ultimate X9 $14.99 offer and it seems to work. However when I downloaded the free NewBlue film effects that came with it, it loaded into my previous VS ProX3 program files. It gave me the choice of what folder I wanted to put it but only listed C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X3\vft_plug. It gave me the option of picking another folder and I searched in my X9 program files but couldn't find an equivalent file like"vft_plug". Also, I haven't seen many things on VS Ultimate X9 that I couldn't do on VS X3, but I'm a sucker at that price!

You should find the vft_plug folder for X9 at :- C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9\vft_plug
