Auto Music

Post by conrail6055 »

Can someone PLEASE help me understand why every - single - time - I try to play the selected music in VSP X7's "Auto Music", the entire program freezes and crashes. All I want to do is preview what these music files sound like and I cannot do anything with it! I've even gone so far as adding a random sound track from the Auto Music section to my timeline so I could listen to it from there and yet again, the program crashes. I don't know what's causing it, nor do I know where to even begin troubleshooting it. ANY help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Have you installed Service Pack one - and the Hotfix for X7 available here :-

Hi Brian,

I installed service pack 1 last February when I first started using VSP, and then the Hotfix when it was released last month. I'll try re-installing the service pack again as this is the first time I've tried creating a new project since the hotfix was installed. I'll report back this evening...

I tried this morning and again tonight to install the service pack update. Each time I try running it I get the message "The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate. The system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run the installation again"

Hi Kris

That message is Corel’s strange way of saying the Service Pack is already installed.
Cvsx7 64 bit version number should be 17.1.0.22

The 17.1.0.22 indicates SP1

Have you re-installed the program.

I would suggest removing all personal data when uninstalling, that will reset the library, so if that’s a problem do a Library Export to backup the library.

Lata,

About a month ago I had some work done to the computer which uninstalled all of my programs. Something to do with reinstalling the system? In any event, when I got the computer back, yes, I had to reinstall VSP. Are you saying the reinstall is what is causing the issue or that I should uninstall and reinstall it again? I'm not concerned with the library as all of my folders and clips were lost when I got the laptop back from the computer guy anyways. What personal data, and located where, should be removed?

Hi Kris

Re-Installing the program is one option although I cannot say if this will cure your problems.
This is what I would do….
Use Programs and Features to uninstall the program, you will be prompted to remove personal settings, tick this box.

Then uninstall
Smart Sound Common Data
And
Smart Sound Quick tracks

Finally if Boris Graffiti 6 for Corel VideoStudio X7, uninstall

Now try re-installing the X7 program.
Immediately after install the Hot Fix http://dwnld.videostudiopro.com/updates ... HotFix.exe

Quick Time, I am unsure if QuickTime is installed with X7, go here to download and install
http://www.apple.com/uk/quicktime/

Then run the X7 program

Not knowing what these are, I did a search of my system and found none of these installed on the laptop - Smart Sound Common Data, Smart Sound Quick Tracks, Boris Graffiti 6.

Go to C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/Smartsound Software in this folder are located Common Data and Quicktracks 5 folders

Smartsound music files are located in C:/ProgramData/Smartsound Software Inc

Boris Graffiti 6, if installed, you should be able to find in Control Panel, Programs & Features, where you can uninstall

Hi

Smart Sound should be listed in the Programs and Features, if not then Auto Music is not installed and probably the main reason why you are having problems. I don’t understand why that should be as Smart Sound is installed when installing X7

Please go to Control Panel Program and Features to check the installations, then re-install as my previous post.

By the way -- The ProgramData folder may be hidden by the operating system so you may not see that folder?

Kris, can you confirm if you own the Pro or Ultimate version of CVSX7

Thank you both for your replies. I'm running X7 Pro. I was able to uninstall VSPX7, as well as Smart Sound Common Data and Smart Sound Quick Tracks. I could not locate the Boris Graffiti 6. I then re-installed X7 and the hotfix. I did not install service pack 1. Corel launched and I was able to listen to the first 2 or 3 auto sound clips that I randomly previewed before Corel crashed on me. I re-launched and tried previewing the Composer Reid, Steven The Great Escape and a pop up box appeared that said " Smart Sound Quick Tracks 5 Preview not available" I'm unable to listen to any of this composers' Great Escape sound files, but can listen to the Jungle Games sound files. Makes no sense.

I also keep getting another pop up regarding "Library Update Check" which has 2 updates; Corel Foundations and New Standards. I remember when I first installed VSP several months back, I held off on accepting those 2 downloads for a few weeks and I had no problems with the auto music freezing, but it seemed like when I finally decided to accept the updates, that was when the crashing began. Either way, I'm allowing those updates to install now so I'll see if that clears it up, or if the crashing continues.

Continued thoughts? Many thanks!!

Hi Kris

Hopefully updating the data will fix these issues.

I assume you have installed Video Studio to the default location on the C:Drive

http://www.apple.com/uk/quicktime/
Quick Time should be installed with the Video Studio installation, can you check that QT is installed.

Usually when running Auto Music for the first time we have to update Smart Sound, that has always happened to me.

If you open the Info panel “SmartSound Quicktracks 5
From the About tab we can choose to Rebuild Smart Sound Data base, worth a try if you have not already done so, although there should be no reason to do that after the new installation of the program.

The Album tab should show the installed albums all showing a Yes, this indicates that all is installed, or do you see a “No”
I see Core Foundations, New Standards and Online Purchases, not that I have bought anything?

The Folder tab should show C:\ProgramData\SmartSound Software Inc as the location.
I see 171 files 8 folders at 2.7Gb within that folder?

And yes continued thoughts, although running out of ideas?
