Are you saying that if I just save my project, the changes to the template will appear as a new template under Favorites? I'm not seeing anything under Favorites.

Thanks much for your detailed steps Trevor. Starting from scratch, I was able to do this and see the "Add to Template" option. Apparently, you cannot do this after the fact.
Honestly, the template saving mechanism leaves an awful lot to be desired. It saves the new template under some cryptic file name. I had to go hunt it down and rename it to something meaningful. But then when you view the templates under Gallery => Favorites, it does not display the file name, only a thumbnail of the template. Several other things are also lacking. For instance, during the menu creation process, there is no access to a save button. This drives me nuts! My 38 years of engineering experience has taught me to save my work frequently.
